actually, I think the last time I saw an actor melt into such a character so well in mainstream cinema was Jamie Foxx in "Ray" - for all the flaws to which a biopic of such a well documented figure is prone, Jamie was astounding
back to your regularly scheduled palaver
Not sure I get the Cosby reference - he's either a saint or a monster- no, maybe something in between. Fame and fortune can do that to a person, even one lacking fundamental character flaws.

Take them to the road show version of "The Hateful 8".

"A Christmas Story" -- written by Gene Shepherd -- on the continuous loop of TBS for Christmas. I had the exact same red/maroon woolen snow suit for the frightfully cold winters of the 1950's.
Edit: speaking of the holiday -- last evening TCM had a Bing Crosby/Frank Sinatra Christmas show -- i had never seen it! Bob Hope was in a couple frames.

yes, the year after "High Society" (1956).Crosby & Sinatra? Never seen that one. What year? Was it a follow up to High Society?
HAPPY HOLIDAYS WITH BING AND FRANK (1957)
Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby sing their favorite holiday songs.
Dir: Frank Sinatra
C-26 mins,
I woulda run off with Grace Kelly if I were old enough in 1956!
Beats running off with Bob Hope.
Xmas years with Crosby&Hope movies on tv were fun, nowadays it's all Grinch and Santa's Slay.

I watched Frank Capra's "Meet John Doe" I still love this one and most of the other classic Frank Capra movies and you just can't get better than Gary Cooper and a young Barbara Stanwick.

Thanks, but i would prefer to take Dorothy Lamour or Jane Russel. à chacun son goût
à chacun son goût
Je prefer Simone Signoret et/ou Jeanne Moreau, merci.
(avec l'odeur de Gitanes sans filtre)
All four are now rather old and last heard had false teeth.
Mais, a chacun son shag.
Jane Russel (in the day) would put you out like a cigarette!
Mais, a chacun son shag.
(in Capetown SA, a passion gap is major plus. Also makes them sound even more amusing in Afrikaans)
a wasted afternoon of Netflix streaming yesterday, so I finally had the time to watch all 3hrs of the ego fest that was " The History of the Eagles" - no question the band deserves recognition as a hit factory, but for those of us who never followed the personalities, messers Frey and Henley don't seem to mind for a minute coming off as total ego-maniacs - part of their charm, I guess
Then the delightful "Muscle Shoals" - a peak at the story of Rick Hall and Fame Studios - as with "Music City" that I saw a couple of years ago, it's amazing the quantity and quality of hits that came out of these grubby little holes in the wall to which big names would flock to catch that magic sound.
"Now Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers
And they've been known to pick a song or two
Lord they get me off so much
They pick me up when I'm feeling blue
Now how bout you?"

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
OK, so I gave in to it and caught the new SW flick in real3D this evening - quite well done I thought, and without giving anything away, I thought I had a rough patch as a father .........
