What are you Watching?

just when you think you need a break from the silliness on network and HBO/Showtime etc TV channels, your Netflix recommendation pops up something like this:
steven greer sirius documentary

The Earth has been visited by advanced Inter-Stellar Civilizations that can travel through other dimensions faster than the speed of light ...
the little 6" alien corpse was fun, though

is it just me, or does he have a bit of the Beavis thing going on?

Maybe I need to catch the latest Avengers in Imax 3D this week, just for a dose of reality 😉

I like my big screen hyper-reality on the blurry and chaotic side - better yet if the narrative arc is almost completely incomprehensible - as long as the main protagonists look good in their lycra / latex suits, I'm happy

all kidding aside, it's probably time to recalibrate my viewing experience - too much of the little screen at home just can't be good for ya 😉

edit ; as mentioned earlier, a recent guilty pleasure for me is HBO's "The Brink" -a recent episode focused on a main character suffering through kidney stones while undertaking delicate diplomatic negotiations with Mid Eastern warlords - having "enjoyed" a bout of acute prostatitis myself (nothing cute about it) - I winced every time I laffed at his predicament; somethings are hard to forget - like crushed toes

It wasn't quite like this 153531384.jpg but it was still interetszing, mentally wise. Nice decor settings, exteriors, ...and cute robot with nicely shaped armature and curvatures. ...Music by Portishead.

@ the end she won. Of course she is a she, and she, is the boss, like in all affairs where a man (or two) are involved with a woman (or two).

Good flick, I liked it. 😎

What's up, man?

Definitely on my watch list. Thought it had become available on Netflix last night, but no, instead I had exited to the main Apple TV screen, so it was an ad for the rental on iTunes...

The Sense8 episode we watched last night was a real bore (probably ep. 8 or so), this show really drags (pun, no pun?) on. It's quite telling that for one whole episode it seems the author had to fill-in with so-called 'sex scenes' which we didn't find very sexy at all. 😕

Normally, when we like a show, we want to binge watch if we can - isn't it great with Netflix to be able to do that instead of waiting impatiently for a whole week like we used to do before?

This time, we instead chose to switch to:

I found the CGI with Tyson's spaceship rather distracting initially, but the show is great, paid a good homage to Carl, and was riveting from start to finish. My gf wanted to watch these shows after the recent news of Kepler finding a cousin to Earth. Me, I grew up mesmerised by Science and Technology shows and computers and electronics, so it's awesome we can watch this whole series together now. 🙂

I went to the cinema last night for the first time in 3 or 4 years. I was invited by co-workers to go see "Mad Max: Fury Road". I wasn't very keen to go, but I can't be anti-social all the time.

I am not one bit surprised how highly-rated this movie is. More and more, I am learning that I need to interpret ratings in a very different way than most people. It gives me deep insight into what the "common man" has come to know and love as "entertainment." It does not bode well for our species.

Damn, not sure I'll like it as these types of things really annoy me!

Since my gf hadn't watched the original, we decided to do that the other night so that we can do the whole series and end up with Miller's latest one.

It's interesting for me to re-watch the first installment and also hear her feedback. I found it telling that at the time the plot took its time to develop, making the change in behaviour of the main protagonist much more dramatic.

The ending can seem abrupt by today's standards, but you could also say it opens up a world of possibilities for the sequel.

I kind of remember not being too satisfied with MM 3, but we'll see.

I almost forgot: she thought it dragged along a little. I found it OK, probably because I was also paying a lot of attention to how Miller filmed the scenes. Being an apocalyptic 'road-movie' (can you really say that?) it was reminiscent to me of another legend which was Spielberg's 'Duel', and some scenes of 'The Hitcher' also came to mind.

Last night, revisited, in (((3D))) :::

You guys saw it? ...What did you think of it? ...Did you learn something new and exciting about your history, where you came from, or around that period when men love to wear sandals instead of cowboy boots and fighting indians.

Not yet! During Christmas, we had planned to follow up a binge-watching session of 'The Bible' miniseries with this and Aronofsky's Noah.

We did finish the mini-series and also had a few other similar ones to watch, like John and Daniel.

The mini-series was very well done.

"Allo, Allo" -- of which we have the complete DVD set -- drove through Nouvion last fall:

Haha! I knew this show from my teenage years, but I wasn't a fan at the time: I had only watched a couple of episodes and schoolmates were always just ding impersonations of the funny accents (this gave me the impression that the show wasn't very smart).

But for a while I had wanted to watch the show again with my gf. We did just that the other night, just the first episode, and had a great time.

Very funny show!

And the policeman has yet to make an appearance.

No. I've got access to any country I want, through Hola, and the 4k stuff just isn't there in any type of quantity yet. It'll be a long time before it is, I'd say.

Tell your son to stop wasting his money on a VPN, for access to US Netflix. Hola (and others) give access to the whole world of Netflix, for free.

Be careful with Hola! They steal and re-sell your bandwidth to others who may use your internet connection for all sorts of activities, including illegal ones and it will traced back to you.

We removed it and installed proxmate instead.

I'm into "books" recently; I watched (revisited) The Book of Life (3D) and The Book Thief. ...Excellent replay value.
I also watched Blackhat from Michael Mann. ...About hacking.

* How's everybody else doin'...you know...in life...with family and friends and the weather? ...Listening to some good tunes, watching anything good on your HDTV? /// Having more sex than before? ...Or less. 😀 ...Driving a convertible, riding a motorcycle, boating on the water's surface...ocean, lake, rapids? ...Picnicking @ the beach, with some cold beverages and having some barbecues...be careful with sparks from the hot hashes.

Brief, what are you watching...the girls in bikini? 🙂

There are several great actual books on that that you could enjoy.

Taking some time off here, some time outside, some in the garden with barbecue, some audiophile DIY and some HD + surround watching. Less.

We watched this last night:

It was very well done, avoided a lot of the cliches and was quite tense from the beginning to the end. The score was very reminiscent of John Carpenter, probably with more digital synths than analogue, but very effective as well.
