What are you Watching?

Was a while ago now, but I quite enjoyed "The Last Samurai" - given the right material and direction, TC is not all that painful to watch. Mind you, as much a fan as I am of Nicole, at any stage of undress, I couldn't endure more than 5 minutes of "Eyes Wide Shut"

There's some pretty damned fine story telling and acting on the "little screen" these days- for just about any taste.
Quite liking "Longmire" on Netflix, among others currently

GF and I went to see "The Martian" last Saturday down in Asheville NC. The theater had a bar and allowed drinks into the theater area, so we each got an imperial stout on Nitrogen.

We both had read the book prior to going to the movie.

My biggest complaint of the movie is they did not explain a lot of what was going on in terms of Watney thinking through the problems as he encountered them. This was a strongpoint of the book in my opinion. For example, when he needed to produce more water and used Hydrazine.

A few scenes were left out which I believe was to avoid adding to the length of the movie.

Over all I rate it very good. No major inconsistencies in the plot. No "WTF?" moments like in Gravity which I thought was a terrible movie.

Seeing it in 3-D was worth the few extra $$,

Ah, finally, nice to read few new comments on what other new people have viewed recently. Because when you're all alone in this world it gets very very boring after a while...totally naturally normal. ...Try living on Mars all by yourself...

I revisited an old classic (1960) last night ::

* It's a "short" film...@ 197 mins total running time. ...But it seems longer. 😉

Anyway the thing here is this: This is a totally new Restored Edition that has been released just recently, last week. And this is the best version from all the other versions; it is absolutely phenomenal! The natural color, finally, and sprinkling all over with magnificent details...while still retaining its most important attribute...film grain.

If you like this film, and that you are an audiophile, no, please erase that, ...if you are a cinephile (videophile), and a music collector, no, please erase that, ...and a movie collector, then that's the one.

Spartacus | Blu-ray: US Restored Edition vs. Blu-ray: UK 50th Anniversary Edition

There is far more strategy to curling than in darts.

Darts, specifically 501, is just a sprint to the finish.

That being said, the psychological pressure of playing darts is immense! Especially with a crowd watching and cheering like mad behind you.

The best players in the world play better in practice before their matches than they do on stage. The pressure can even get to them..... in serious cases, it takes the form of "dartitis" -- a failure to let go of the dart. Almost every top ranked pro player in the world has had to deal with it. For some, it has ended their careers.

The easiest game in the world to play, but the hardest to play well.

It's all been tried before.

What Phil Taylor said worked was throwing a brick about the back yard as if it were a dart. You will let go.

Paul Lim said throwing at a board that was lit with a single candle did it for him. No forcing.

There are very many "cures".

I prefer chess myself; there is no tension involved...and the crowds are quiet.

* I watched 'Tomorrowland' last night...it wasn't that good.
The picture was pretty though (Blu-ray).

<<>> I have an official dart board @ home, with regulation darts. ...But I don't play anymore, just like my snooker cue and pool cue.

Some folks they like shooting...guns...practice shooting...on anything...targets...moving ones...animals...humans...etc. I never did, and never will...it's just not in me...I prefer arrows.

I have no clue what I'll be watching next.

I watched this guy last night, in (((3D)))

Ferocious, carnivorous...it came in a sardine metal box...with T-Rex stew inside.
It was a nice ride, inside a bubble...radically (two brothers).
@ one point I went to open the door and looked outside...to see who was chewing my door. :wave2s: :trapper: :Pawprint: :Pawprint: :Pawprint:

Good sound and picture...popcorn flick for all animals out there. :deer: :Pawprint: :Pawprint: :Pawprint:
