What are you Watching?

Last night I watched this, on Blu-ray and in 3D :::

It was excellent. ...The 3D picture, not the film.

Yes, Mr Miller is an acquired taste, and for the antediluvians amongst us only equipped for 2D viewing, the narrative flow/arc* is oft times as important as the number of pixels devoted to imagery

Only another few posts, and I trust that latter point will be off my radar

* had trouble composing this as smoothly as I'd like - you found the "sequel" weaker than the original in that respect, then?

Yes Chris; this sequel is full of flaws, and it isn't as good @ all as the first original 'Sin City'. It's a 3.5 out of 10 (more or less, depending of who is watching).
Only technically that it shines; picture quality wise, audio quality wise, and 3D picture wise. ...It's a 9.5 out of 10 (all across for technical merits).

Last night I watched this (directed by Sir Ridley Scott) ::

It was excellent, and I liked everything about it; story, acting, actors/actresses, characters, cinematography, visuals, audio, music score, locales, decors, impact, ...just an overall great flick (thriller). ...A good 8.5 all across.

My personal recommendation? ...Don't miss it if you haven't seen it yet already.

And replace those caps inside that old integrated amp. ;)

Between this one and the first one (the other one, just before that one), I prefer none more than the other; they both totally suck.

1. The storyline is apetic (pathetic).
2. The picture is so dark that you cannot see the zippers behind their ape suits.
3. The CGI effects are mickey mouse (kids).
4. The sound is like a box of froot loops (cereals), that you chew on in the morning, with some fake powder milk.
5. And the acting reminds me of a bad soap opera during a nightmare storm in the desert of Alaska.

Overal: Better to skip it if you still value your brain. :D

You guys watch no more movies; all the members here @ diyAudio?

No like movies, ...but more into muzik? ...Or simply building stuff that makes zizik?

I don't seem to find the time for movies very often. I think it is because I have seen so few good ones in the past 15 years or so. I've nearly given up.

I do enjoy, however, a few of the "higher end" TV series, from the likes of AMC, Showtime, Netflix Original, etc.

It's true that in the last 15 years there aren't too many great movies.
But it is also true that in the last 15 years technological advancements in the film industry (CGI effects, Marvel comics, IMAX 3D, Dolby Atmos, PIXAR animations, pornography, etc.) are different than the old days of 'Lawrence of Arabia' and 'Casablanca' and 'Citizen Kane'. :trapper:

Busy making room for a bigger screen ;)

Meanwhile you can watch TV on your smartphone. :Pawprint::Pawprint: :deer:

Recently finally watched "Gravity" - 2D only, small screen - fabulous visuals, not much "acting" - and even less science

Chris, did you see 'Interstellar' yet, or are you still waiting for the BC Museum IMAX 70mm representation?

* Loosely based on true facts. It's nothing here, picture & sound has nothing to do with it; it's all about that guy, that mafia pro hitman, that killer, the iceman. ...Well calculated, methodical garbage disposal.

<<>> You can check real interviews of him online, and it is a very interesting job, one that I don't think you can study @ the university to become a specialist in that discipline.
He's a unique real character, and the subject of studies by the most prominent brain people. ...You know, psychiatrists, that sort of stuff.

(()) Movies are like an eye-opener into our world of vision.
It's like going @ the library and start reading some captivating books about everything; science, theories, fictions, and all that jazz. It's good for the brain, for the world's equilibrium...I think.
