What are you Watching?

Your opinion is totally natural, normal.

Just the fact that we all love and hate makes us all normal. ...Humans.

* Can't wait to see it. :) ...On Blu (Blu-ray).

<<<>>> Try 'The Best Offer' (2013) ... Directed by Giuseppe Tornatore,, and music score composed by Ennio Morricone.

always a sucker for a dark sci-fi, but couldn't have said it better:

"Critics Consensus: While it might prove somewhat satisfying for devout sci-fi fans, Pandorum's bloated, derivative plot ultimately leaves it drifting in space."

Rotten Tomatoes

Actually that should be sunk to the bottom under its own gravity

Well enough mounted production values and flying wire work on the inside of the ship, but half the dialog was indecipherable, and once can see far better CG on half a dozen TV series I can think of than in the final scenes. The recent Cosmos with Neil deGrasse Tyson comes to mind

I've started watching Twin Peaks (in HD). Saw some of it when it originally was aired.

Biggest let down ever.

*Spoiler alert*

If you've lost someone dear to you this tv show MAY take on a whole new meaning and MAY be just the speed at which you are looking for, but for me it was far far too slow and sparse.

The ending and the entire series was basically just wallpaper and music. I've never been so disappointed in a tv show in my entire life before. Even the C and D grade tv shows and movies interest me more than this tv series did. If I was on Mount Everest alone and cold and dying I would be more active and mobile than I was while I was watching this TV show.

The promo and the intro video was nice though. Oh and the following scene below That is pretty much it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0YI_eHg3Aw

But even then this scene is exactly as it appears to be, it is quite possibly the best scene in the entire show and it involves a little person walking backwards and talking funny. Thats all. The rest of the show involves detectives and one-on-one occurances of two people talking inside of really cramped and "muggy" feeling (yes I got that sensation over tv) endlessly sometimes for the entire episode.

WARNING this is a 7 minute edition of the entire tv series, watch ONLY if you have already seen the series but forget what it was about::
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWaFqB56Ykw

See what happened there? This entire tv series could fit into a single episode, thats how sparse it was.

But I digress, some people absolutely LOVE the show. For everyone else I recommend an X-Files marathon OR and I highly recommend this show, is one called "Millennium". This is an adequate replacement for what I expected Twin peaks would be.

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcKyW_AtXB0

And it has great 90s ambient music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06a5wo5-zBw

TL;DR = I expected X-Files or a TV series of Lost Highway but instead got a Tranquilizer.

I'm still grieving the loss of Honey Boo Boo- what's next to go, that zenith of redneck culture, Duck Dynasty?

Somewhat misanthropic this evening for some reason -

freax- thanx for reminding me of "Millenium" -I know it's only the "small screen" - but I really enjoyed Lance and Terry Quinn's work (years before Lost)

No problem. I absolutely adore this era of time, from about 1992 to 2002 I love anything found inside of it and it thrills me whenever I find something new that I haven't seen before or haven't seen in a very long long time.

I'm the kind of guy who you'd find playing point-and-click FMV video games from the early 90s.

And still has Duke Nukem 3D, Dreamweb.

You may also forget Due South but thats not really a watchable tv show, I mean sure its great but sometimes its boring.

And "In the heat of the night" (90s tv show) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEfQYVfshs8

Oh yeah and I still own and use my Sony Walkman WM-FX171 from 1998:
????????? WALKMAN????SONY WM-FX171 - ?7???

Tape sounds heaps better than MP3 and even LPFM is better for around the home.

In the car its CD from a Pioneer Deck modified.

OH and you're not a Hipster if you were ACTUALLY THERE when it happened. Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

You're just really old fashioned and some fools think "he's pathetic" for using such outdated stuff, but thats okay I can live with that. I think people like that are fools for buying new tv sets and cars every year.

Why don't u use an eight-track tape machine in your car and @ home?

Why don't u use an eight-track tape machine in your car and @ home?

Because I'm not that much of a Hippie.

I rarely use tape anyway, its usually either LPFM (0.0050 watt/5mW/Good for 50 meters with a Sony Walkman) for around the home or CD.

The option is there though, if I were to go outdoors for a long period I now have the option of bringing a mixtake and I get to bring that nice analog twang along for the ride. Beats having to convert digital to analog in a space no bigger than a matchbox or deck of cards.

I've heard some pre-recorded concerts on tape that would best even 96KHz 24 bit digital audio.

The SQ of a cassette playing in a 90s Walkman is really really good. All depends on your original source and the deck you used to put it on at home though. Prerecorded ones are rubbish. Sure you do get SOME wow and flutter but its easy enough to ignore this. And on a really good deck if the recording was made on a really good deck also, its nearly completely inaudible.

You can also still buy Cassettes by the box load.

I thought Pandorum was a waste of CG - but "I, Frankenstein" - just think of the trillions of pixels wasted there

Bill Nighy can chew it up with the best of them but not even his special brand could save this for me (I swear I could hear him thinking "glad I went for the straight paycheque and no points")

Always fun to check out the IMDb list of "people who liked this, also liked" for a short list of flics to avoid
