Wharfedale speaker 3XP and XP2 tweeters

Ok all - can anyone answer as to which tweeters are exactly the same as the Wharfedale Glendale 3XP Tweeter. Not the early one twisted in the cabinet but the one fitted squarely.
I ask because I need one should anyone hear of one for sale.
Many thanks,
Geoff.

Photos of the Glendale 3XP tweeter are shown in post #48, sports fans!

It looks identical to the tweeter in the Linton 3XP, but neither designation of tweeter is currently available at auction.

Information on this tweeter is proving hard to come by, but we do know that under its protective cover lies a cone manufactured from Wharfedale's 'purple plastic'.

Hi, so it looks as if the Glendale 3XP, the Denton 2XP and the Linton 3XP all have the same tweeter - might be a bit easier to get hold of one then. If anyone come up with more of the same please let me know. E bay here I come, again, again, again!!!
All the best,
Geoff.

I have a pair of Wharfedale Denton 2 since my childhood, my dad bought them for me second hand, with a Standard transistor amp with 10w power. I had at that time a Lenco turntable as well. That must have triggered my quest for audio....

They are still doing service as PC speakers with a Sony amplifier, still sounding good with the stock crossover.

I had a pair of those. I really liked them. The tweeter crosses over at 1.4k as far as I remember. That wide band Wharfedale cone tweeter suits my sound wishes really well. I nearly started a thread to see if there is a modern equivalent open back tweeter.

I can supply some extra information.

Wharfedale described the Denton 2 tweeter as a "mid-range treble unit". It has a plastic rear housing described as an "integral loading cavity for minimum distortion in the mid-range" - see attachment.

The purple cone is made of Cellulose Acetate Butyrate (CAB) which "combines great strength with light weight".

P.S. To avoid any confusion, the 3XP/2XP tweeter is a closed back unit.

P.P.S. I have a pair of Denton 2 in my collection. Recently I replaced the ageing ELCAP electrolytic capacitors in the crossovers. I also experimented running the 8" bass driver unfiltered and just having a 4uF capacitor in series with the mid/tweeter. You know, midrange, against the perceived wisdom, I think they actually sound better that way! :happy1:

Just ordered a pair of Solarvox SP25 speakers for £35 plus delivery. I can take the tweeters out of them for use and bin the rest.
Will now have to put some cones up for sale and crossovers all for the Glendale XP2 - 2x tweeters, 1 x mid, 2x woofers and 4x crossovers (2 without new capacitors and two with but needing 2x22uf to complete).
