Welcome to the new diyAudio platform - feedback wanted!

Well done and thanks for the work.

The search function is way better now, but I think it can still be improved. Something I would like to see is an expanding dropdown for advanced search instead of a separate page.
Noted about advanced search not requiring a click to another page. I found that annoying the last site. This would be a phase 2 or 3 item unless there is a well supported plugin available for XF to add this.
I noticed that when I read certain threads on my phone (while logged in), and later when I go to the same forum on my PC,
these previously read threads, are still marked as new/unread (with bold font titles).
Since they were already read, they should not be marked as 'new'.
Weird. This should be stored in the database and should sync across devices. I have started an issue for this here:

https://www.diyaudio.com/community/...ot-syncing-between-mobile-and-desktop.380637/
We'll get around to investigating this as time allows. If you can post definite steps / proof that may speed up the process.

Unless you’re on mobile, or used to how XenForo is designed.
Constructive feedback welcomed. 2nd level nav should have most XF stock 2nd level nav items by end of today. Please detail mobile issues.

It looks like this was changed by adding an additional "menu layer" to the front page: "Posts" / "Threads" / "Watched". I can see the idea behind this, but as far as I can tell this has gone wrong for at least three reasons:
  1. The additional "menu layer" does not appear on the mobile version of the site, only on the "desktop" version for larger screens. On the desktop, access to "watched threads" was fine as it was before. The problem was with mobile devices, where digging and scrolling through the menus was necessary to access "watched threads". After the change, I cannot find "watched threads" at all on the mobile version.
Hamburger -> Find Content -> Watched -> Threads
  1. The additional "menu layer" is visible only on the front page. If I am not on the front page (like displaying a post), there is no more access to "watched threads".
D'oh! That looks like an implementation bug to me. It should be on every page. Thanks for the bug report. It has been escalated.
  1. The "Watched" --> "Threads" menu is awkward to me. When I am scanning the menus from left the right ("Posts" -> "Threads" -> "Watched") I tend to stop at "Threads" and start looking for "watched threads" in the "Threads" menu. Also, while the "Posts" and "Threads" entries are from the same type, "Watched" is different and does not seem to belong there. It's a bit like if the menu was "Apple" / "Banana" / "Today", where "Today" is not a fruit.
Noted. Expect more native XF menu items soon.

why would I want to go from that to a forum index that isn’t, and a massive horizontal list of forum jump links?

See above - it's a bug and not intended.
I appreciate the work that you and the team put into this migration and I like the new look of the site now. But isn’t one of the prime directives of a website migration is to preserve links to existing legcontent?
You have reported this same issue many times. There was no need to report it more than once. It is logged and being actively investigated. Please do not report it again until it's fixed. Thanks.

Cheers.
Looks like every effort is made to be more accessible for iPad/iPhone readers instead for desktop use - too big letter set, too big icons, too little info on the front page unless you click and choose from menu... for an old user like me too confusing and hidden...
I did not try yet the classic mode...
Not at all. Desktop is designed as the best for desktop, and mobile is designed as the best for mobile. One is not beholden to the other.

Try the classic mode.

Ya. Mobile's okay. Would be good if what you're calling Find Content was auto-expanded, and to have a real forums index (which is an index of forums).
I agree with both your points, they are known and at least the first was not able to be implemented (yet) due to technical reasons. There are a lot of "technical reasons" why the nav doesn't work like it should yet. Just know that we know about these issues and will get it right one way or another.
For mobile it's already there - just need to make 'Find Content' expanded by default, and once you've enough analytics, order what's within by usage.
Just like stock XF really, yep.

I would like to see an icon for the country of origin

It has been high on the list since day 1 of the beta. Like in vB it will likely need to be hacked in (write a plug-in in XF).

Everyone should set their flag, it makes the forum more colourful and really helps us appreciate that we come from all over the world.

No one has logged in from space yet. Maybe we shoud start a pool. Aug 23, 2028.

Jason, I don't enjoy typing but enjoy helping - if there is no need, okay. I mentioned the issue as the second user after X, with a) no reaction b) "write it in another thread" c) and there "that's not what we are loooking for, but we have a few (!) of them".
However, it's great that you are working on it. No more reactions, I promise 🙂

Ah right, you are talking about @gerardv calling a broken image link a broken image and not a broken link in that thread... please forgive him, he's a little stressed. We're on to it. And thanks for reporting the problem.

It would be great if it was possible to have a link to the new posts in the user menu. Then I can get all forums read in two clicks. Going through the news feed takes two extra clicks. That is on desktop. On mobile, I just use the menu - find content - new - that is just fine.

@rabbitz - it is on the New Posts page - which is a bit difficult for me to find as described above.
