Me, I quite probably would be here even if it was like

I noticed that when I read certain threads on my phone (while logged in), and later when I go to the same forum on my PC,
these previously read threads, are still marked as new/unread (with bold font titles).
Since they were already read, they should not be marked as 'new'.
I believe this should work across different client platforms, as long as I'm logged in.
I guess you are storing this information in the cookies, that's why different client platforms see different cookies.
To make it work as expected, cookie data should be stored on the server.

Also, when I click on the 'unread' thread, I'm gonna jump to the last page.
When I click on the 'read' thread, I'm gonna jump to the 1st page.
This behaviour is annoying, and I believe it should consistently go to the last page, always.

i also miss the 50-post per page possibility .
And the nationflags made it easier to select a certain thread when
e.g looking for parts... or constructing in inches by those with
starsprangled banner... I omit it. Now not as easy.

Flags will be coming back.
We increased the front page feed from 25 posts to 80, and almost no one noticed. 🙂 The number of posts shown is a global setting in this software, not per user, unfortunately. If 50 per page works for most, we could move to that.

Nice changes just happened to the navigation bar. It makes it way easier to find posts and threads you've interacted with than on the old software. On the old forum it was kind of a pain. Now it's just a couple of clicks to find your content.

...you can access it right now with two clicks - the "kitchen sink" menu to the right of "members", then "watched threads".
It looks like this was changed by adding an additional "menu layer" to the front page: "Posts" / "Threads" / "Watched". I can see the idea behind this, but as far as I can tell this has gone wrong for at least three reasons:
  1. The additional "menu layer" does not appear on the mobile version of the site, only on the "desktop" version for larger screens. On the desktop, access to "watched threads" was fine as it was before. The problem was with mobile devices, where digging and scrolling through the menus was necessary to access "watched threads". After the change, I cannot find "watched threads" at all on the mobile version.
  2. The additional "menu layer" is visible only on the front page. If I am not on the front page (like displaying a post), there is no more access to "watched threads".
  3. The "Watched" --> "Threads" menu is awkward to me. When I am scanning the menus from left the right ("Posts" -> "Threads" -> "Watched") I tend to stop at "Threads" and start looking for "watched threads" in the "Threads" menu. Also, while the "Posts" and "Threads" entries are from the same type, "Watched" is different and does not seem to belong there. It's a bit like if the menu was "Apple" / "Banana" / "Today", where "Today" is not a fruit.
Overall, access to "watched threads" was much better before this change (although a bit cumbersome on mobile devices). Please revert to how it was before!

Finding it fast on iPhone. Seems to be the same or similar. Is your mobile layout different?

Nothin to do with speed - that’s fine. The nav is now contextual so all the buttons I would use to nav are replaced with buttons I’d never use when I click one. If I’m exploring things relevant to me - new posts, watched threads, etc., why would I want to go from that to a forum index that isn’t, and a massive horizontal list of forum jump links? I could hit the back button, but if you have to hit the back button for anything other than an accidental click, you’ve a broken UX. The only other way to get back to the nav I use is to go back to home and start over.

Perhaps desktop is the same - I’m not in front of one ATM. Maybe it’s my shortcoming, but I just can’t envisage the user stories that are informing these changes. Perhaps the analytics data you have on user journeys supports this. I just can’t see it.

*This perspective is from iPad/Safari.

I suppose it's different mindsets. I find the new layout much easier to navigate than the old one, and fewer clicks needed to find what I want to see. Well except for the moderator tools, which are in strange places, but that's a mod problem. Working out something for everyone will be fun to watch.

The new front page could be denser, for sure. The old layout was marvelously compact, it would be hard to get it any denser. There will need to be a lot of work to get the new layout near where it was.
