Weird Drivers Catalogue

I'm not sure how weird this one is, but there's some kind of synthetic "woven thatching" used in place of the cone, with a big dust cap and huge surround. Got it for small money about 15 years ago, labelled as "Zipp 20 ZOW2", plays like a car subwoofer, but unfortunately no T/S parameters or data are available, so that it could be put into a proper "box".

Technics also made a series of flat diaphragm drivers. The woofers and mud were just normal cone drivers with a plastic flat honey one disc glued on a clear plastic cone attached to the vc. In a word crap.
You've just reminded me of the old Yamaha flat speakers. The JA-5002, it looks like these were used in the NS-20 and NS-330 models, possibly others.

It looks like the cone here is a polystyrene foam. More images found here:
