There are always different ways of "explaining" things - and I'm fascinated in how the different streams coming from the British stock have rapidly evolved into "different" peoples, over just a couple of hundred years. The climate seems far too variable to be a root cause, heat being oppressive in Australia is a complete myth - many parts of USA seem far worse than us, in the areas where people actually live.

D.H. Lawrence in Kangaroo I feel captured some of the sense of what's different about this place, though he saw it in a negative light - also, the almost lost early film "Wake in Fright" highlights some of the dark underbelly of our character ...

Wow that's the ultimate instrument.........I figured that I would make one some day.....There was an even simpler build that I found several years ago made entirely from hardware store parts. I can't find it now.
.

I spent a good chunk of today sucking data off of the drives that I pulled from the computer I dropped. I recovered a lot of the good stuff, and found this :

History of the Tapladder

Two simple demos:

I also found some of the pictures taken during the night school wood shop class that I took once a week for nearly 10 years. Here is a picture of two of us playing instruments we were in the process of building. Neither instrument was finished, both lacking final finish, and the electronics. Coincidentally both of us achieved unamplified playability on the same night. Also, we were both Motorola engineers. Steve has since completed 3 electric Ukeleles, yet my digital guitar is still not complete. It now has a complete MIDI controller with phrase looping capability for drums and bass made with Livid Instruments components, but never got painted before I moved away from the shop.

I will be building my own wood shop to continue these endeavors, but it won't happen right away.

George, When you get yer' woodshop up & running I'll send you down some Schinopsis balansae ...of course you'll have to run metal cutting tools ( A garage mounted CNC machine). K?

( A garage mounted CNC machine).

I started gathering the parts for a CNC machine several years ago. It's another one of those "future projects" that may or may not ever get built. The mechanical and electronic aspects of the machine are no problem for me. I used to maintain a 200 watt CNC laser scribe at work, 30+ years ago. A 200 watt laser can really blow stuff up.

Good 3D CAD software that can generate "G" code is expensive and has a steep learning curve......maybe someday. It needs to be big enough to carve out an electric guitar body.

I have a 24 X 36 foot mobile home on the property that is currently used for storage. After I build a new electronics lab in the basement of the house, I will start on renovating the trailer. I plan to use a good chunk of the space for a wood shop.

an insane world, run by psychopaths and sociopaths,
I see this as sort of the opposite extreme of the no-addiction HTFU viewpoint.

I've probably said this before... If I haven't heard a piece of music before, it's new. Its year of release is secondary at best. Wine analogy?🙂

I've mentioned William Topley before here on the forum. He is making music I like. Anyone listened to the Sea Gypsies, his acoustic group?

Amongst the "post-Jerry G new wave of jam bands" I probably prefer Widespread Panic.
Some relatively newer prog not mentioned so far is Echolyn. I have As The World, and those guys definitely have chops. But, I have a low pain threshold for choir & opera music and the former influences the vocals on the album.
And no Magma for me, either.

Living in an insane world, run by psychopaths and sociopaths,
does tend to drive sane people nuts. Self-medication is a forgone
conclusion for many citizens of this planet and this state of affairs
will remain for some time yet. Perhaps indefinitely.

I wouldn't know if those people are psycho or something else,
but I know this. Vast majority of people are normal people,
sane, loving their owns and fighting for their owns, only
this is not something media will report on a regular basis as
much as bad things happening. So it turns out to be true something
that really isn't.

You can change the world only by changing yourself. I'll save
my social energy to be invested in my family for our health, both
physical and spiritual. Only goodness can and will prevail. Only
goodness has a bright future. I was taught that way, I tested it and
found it to be true. Whenever one acts badly, people flee. That's the
principle of hell. Total loneliness.

well I commented that I felt getting a nelson pass amp camp system made me feel that i was stoned well tonight i will be and with the newly reinstated vinyl got a dl 103R in and a few albums down just waiting for the man!!!

good reading for sure,
I think the key to rooting out psychos is to observe the lack of empathy and their limited range of emotions. ( as in it's either good or bad for them!) I reckon they are pretending or mimicking emotions most of the times. Must be tiring for them im sure, so they let their guard down sometimes and the cracks will appear. Can be seen as inappropriate behavior at certain times, say extreme anger at a small slights ( how do they treat waitress that makes a small error etc ) they can't modulate levels of anger very well, another example is they may not know how to behave at a funeral gatherings, trying to be the ones doing all the all cheering up bits. something just seems "off " and out of place once you analyze it.

good reading for sure....
Forewarned is to be forearmed.

IME, psychopath/sociopath types are typically weak, and when challenged turn to water.
The general modus operandi is to bully and intimidate, but when politely and firmly informed that their nonsense will not be tolerated take one of two directions.
One is to befriend you, the other is to elevate their attacks.
Such elevation, in time proves to be their downfall.

Dan.

it's not me it's you
but oh they can be so charming when they turn it on.
Better not let them know yer on to them most times. Once they decide you're not going to be able to "help them" they can be very dangerous. If you're not aware, they can turn it around in an instant and try to destroy you 1st , behind your back. It's a bi-polar black and white world they inhabit. don't spoil it

There's a distinct difference between the two, imho.

Hi

Officially the terms sociopath or psychopath don't really mean anything specific, but tend to be used by the general public to describe people with personality disorders, of which there are in fact several.

Probably the closest thing to what is generally regarded as psychopathy is the antisocial personality disorder in the case of men and the Borderline Personality disorder in women.

Public figures that are ego-maniacle are probably those with the Narcissistic personality disorder, a good current example in the UK is the controversial columnist Katie Hopkins.

Extreme drama-queens male or female are characteristic of the Histrionic personality
disorder.
