You're familiar with Pete Frame's Rock Family Trees?Edit again: Just for fun, and I haven't formally done this, take Robert Wyatt and see how many directions that leads in. I think I will try that.
If not, it's worth looking into.
I saw two really good shows back when that I am unsure of recorded representation. Bill Bruford playing in his own group. Tight, easy complexity. I've never seen such a laid-back drummer doing impossible time signatures. (The Bruford/Moraz collaboration sucked in my opinion). I had such high hopes.
The other gig that I happened upon was Burton Cummings playing solo with just a grand piano. The Guess Who distilled to its essence.
There may be great albums of each out there. I'll have to see.

Cool, I'll have a peek.
I remember seeing one of his trees as a gatefold inner art for some album, I think. Could have been in some magazine. Upon seeing them on Wikipedia, they looked incredibly familiar. Has that certain look, reminiscent of R. Crumb's Big Brother and the Holding Company album cover, or maybe it's just filed that way in my brain.

After Moraz tried to stuff disco licks into Moody Blues songs, I had no use for any music that guy did since....
Saw Bill Bruford with King Crimson in the mid nineties. I seem to recall a high school auditorium in Portland was the venue....although the memory is a bit hazy....
If memory serves, I've seen Bruford with Yes, Genesis (post Gabriel pre Chester Thompson), King Crimson and solo. Great drummer. Nothing brings the futility of "the world's best" argument into better focus for me than drummers. Or bass players, or beer. It's not possible to know the best, but it is possible to know the worst. Check it out!!!!!
Check it out!!!!!
Am I the only one to love Fun House from the Stooges.... hey : 1970 ! What a crazy dog this Iggy !
Like both the energy, the Madness and finally how it's mixed in a cool way ! It's like if he mixed weed with more hard substances ! both speed & relax in a same way while staying Rock'n Roll ! A little like in the same spirit than J Hendrix !When I listen this one for the first time I began to trust in God !
If time machine, I would like to be in the pub when the Stones and some others heard for the the first time Hendrix and then looked at them each others with white faces 😀 (true story !)
Maybe one of my most beloved US LP with Pet Sounds... Classic but so good !

When I was a teenager, I like many kids wanted to be a rock star. I played the typical 60's surf music in a typical garage band. As with most, we thought we were good......then I went to a Hendrix concert. After that, I new that I was not a star quality guitar player.
It happened long before with me, when I saw (in a book) Michelangelo's Pieta. Bill Chase did me in for the trumpet. Saw him in a brass clinic and concert 6 months before he was killed in the plane crash. Awesome trumpet player. Probably not the "best", however.😉 ps. Also saw Bruford with UK. I'd say I've experienced so Bruford in my time!

Certainly not!
My late sister and her then boyfriend did run the Iggy Pop Fan Club back in the days.
That said I am still looking for an original copy of Raw Power.
One that has not been 'remastered' by Iggy who crushed all life out of it with extremely excessive compression.

I can't stand excessive compression/squashing everything. That was normal back then though with so much stuff...still goes on, its like damn I don't want to hear that, I like an alive/really open sound.

I was 6 in 1973 but would accept being a few years older now to have seen ELP then. I have a very dog eared copy of that album...more then a few were rolled on that one.
I saw them on that tour (it was the third time I had seen them). One of the two loudest concerts I've ever attended! I was highly amused by a group performing a jeremiad about the horrors of computerization and mechanization while playing an enormous bank of synthesizers and amplifiers.
That was the night I learned about why earplugs might be a good idea when going to rock concerts. Good show though; Carl Palmer was the best drummer ever who couldn't keep time.

WTF is it with this excessive compression trend, one of my musician friends first brought it to my attention about ten years ago, since then it has become steadily more extreme. Do you think that they have end users listening on mobile devices in mind, only rationale I can think for it. Sadly the rest of us with potentially good quality equipment with which to replay this material have to suffer this treatment.
Went to see George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic one Halloween at a not too big venue in Boston...absolutely the loudest I have ever heard... Painful.
I stopped going to rock shows because of excessive volume and people talking (shouting) around me. Dixie Dregs was definitely painful. Now I limit my concerts to bluegrass festivals and classical/ancient/chamber music. (Usually.)
That's like something too, where you throw in a big dip or chaw etc, usually have one in all the time anyways, everything is a bit more interesting haha

I went to the "Village Live" event today. After the bands, the DJ came on at 1am for the remainder and shifted the bass to red.
The moment I/we left, all noise and no sound, a waste of my tymPANIC membrane.
(After 14 bacardi & coke, maybe for the better. The more I drink, the more sensitive my ear drums become)

Do have I to understand from your answer there isn't but in the pirate markett ?
With Beach Boys 's Pet Sounds, I don't feel a better involment when I listen to the remixed 20 bits album than the first one !
