Waveguides and horns

Wait for Celestion 2050? I've designed new 200Hz EOS waveguide 90x50x50cm, 60x30deg. It has smoothest response possible. First samples being laminated this week (not at horns.pl). Pair with faital 15PR400 in Onken - see visualisation. That flange at mouth is removed in production.

It will be used in pro cinema installations. Current production is glass laminate but depends on current investor can be more sophisticated (with airex, casted polyurethane etc) like Red Spade Audio PSE-144.

News - Sonido now makes elliptical woofer SCW 096A and full range version plus SCW300F for Open Baffle, see images.

The Onken was designed for [vintage] Altec, etc., [mid] bass horn drivers, i.e. very high Vas, low Fs, low-medium Qts, but there's nothing special about the alignment, so for modern drivers you need to find the vent area required for a ~0.4-0.5 vent mach and calculate number of vents [more vents, the longer for a given tuning], vent length based on actual power likely to be applied at Fb Vs just using its peak power rating.

The only drivers I know that won't work are super low Vas drivers unless made oversize, then damp the longer than 'optimum' vents as required like the late Jean Michel Le Cléac'h did with his, but now can't find it in a quick Google search. :(

Don't have my Excel calculator loaded, so can't sim or check any on-line ones. I know Cyr-Marc Debien's Excel SS is correct though: https://www.google.com/search?q=onk....69i57j0l4.13121j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Hi Jzagaja,

Nice large waveguide! Have you tried the new Celestion Axi2050, and if "yes", then what is your impression?

Thanks!

Best regards
Peter
