Warpspeed Optocoupler Volume Control Kit

Number 14 up and running in Baltimore

I just did a quick listen last night to check if all is well. I did the voltage check before installing the LDR as suggested and then BINGO. I can not get over what I heard. This thing blew the doors off my TS Grounded Grid preamp.
I will do some careful listening over the weekend.
I am using a 12v 7ah SLA with no caps for power

The pot in the kit is very much lower than your 100k alps but as a fully built kit the Warpspeed can replace any volume pot value albeit not motorized. It's manually controlled so you keep your spiritual connection with your system 😉

The kit LDRs are matched to work with the 'Squid...not sure how yours match though.

Because if you said what resistance it is, i could look for alternatives (with motor). Without motor this kit goes away for me, so that is why i want to know.
Why don't give people who ask a clear answer? it could probably help you sell more.

Rolle2k,

FYI. Might save you some time.
I tried looking for an motorized pot for this unit but they cost around $400. I tried the digital pots, without success. I was looking at faking out the pots but not linear. A mechanical stepper motor is the only option that is low cost.

For now I just enjoy the sound without the remote. But I do wish there was one.

I'll leave that as an exercise for the DIYer...

If you can justify an additional expense to replace the pot to make it remote controlled by all means go ahead. But like ua100k said it's around $200-$400 for the multi-turn motorized precision types.

The multiturn is very import on how this thing works. I my system I am in almost two turns in before the music comes on and I am at full volume before I hit bottom(or top, depending on how you look at it)
I bet this changes when I try the warpspeed replacing the pot in an active circuit

For most systems the 2nd 360-deg turn is where the action will be. I agree and it depends on the voltage gain of the preamp active circuit but I'm quite confident the Warpspeed has enough low range levels from zero volume for normal listening levels.

For standard digital players, amps with modest gain, and speakers with average sensitivities, we actually don't need another gain stage in-between source and amps.

RollE2k:
If you heard how great this device is you would not mind getting up to change the volume.
If you really cared what the music sounds like, you would not care about the frilly stuff
get a life

This is why i dislike forums, i only asked a question and get rude answers. I asked because remote is important for me if it isn't for you, then fine.

I run a LDR volume today, and what i would be after is ability to have MORE attenuation, so i get completley silence if i need. Thus the interest for this pre.

If your above statement is more important than a remote control feature, then yes the Warpspeed can provide and more.
