Actually at this moment I'm sitting in the old seafarer's home (now Hotel Hafen Hamburg), where Ringo slept, when he was part of Rory Storm & The Hurricanes. The (five) Beatles however were accommodated in a measly, small room in the nearby Bambi cinema. 😀
I'm looking forward to the design. Thanks. 🙂

Hotel Hafen Hamburg

Willy's Pub inside the hotel, where I usually have my lunch, is in a way the private museum of Willi Bartels. He was a real man of honor. He possessed half of the real estate on Reeperbahn and almost all buildings on Grosse Freiheit, the places where the Beatles played. A colorful, fascinating and without any doubt nasty redlight district - the right chalybeate bath to mold the best band of the world. 🙂

Hope you don't mind the little OT. 😀

Here's the new look Warpspeed with Balanced/Unbalanced functionality and a power ON indicator added🙂 ...very simple and functional. The cherry wood panels are there to increase WAF and please the missus. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/anal...optocoupler-volume-control-9.html#post2500901.

Anyone interested in a similar completed unit, please email or pm me for more details or questions. This is only offered as a turnkey Warpspeed. It can be powered with an SLA battery at 12V with 5Ah or more.

The DIY route is still offered with the Unbalanced unit...:warped:

Although I have not tried every possible preamp and buffer out there, I'm going out on a limb to recommend the Warpspeed as a replacement of any pot used in front of a preamp or buffer. It just needs to tap off of the existing DC power supply...which I presume is already low ripple/noise as it supplies your front end. Also, you have an existing box to accommodate the compact 'Squid.

The 'Squid is also flexible enough to run on a DC voltage supply from +6V thru +24V. One way to try it without ripping out your existing pot is to set it full CW (full volume) and then connect the Warpspeed between the Source (CD player) and your preamp or buffer...just make sure the Warpspeed pot is set to full CCW (0 volume) before hitting Play. Control the volume then with the Warpspeed to your heart's desire...from 0 to ear-splitting levels.

There might be cases where your preamp/buffer will be allowing the noisefloor into your amp audible without music at full volume, just lower your pot until the noise goes away.

Email or pm for details/questions...
