When you have opened board or a schematics file open in this order :File>Export>ImageElectro-Nick said:Please help me out Mark...
How do i get a picture of the PCB. If i make a screendump you'll get a lot of useless extra.
I can send you a zipped file with all the contents for the design.

do you have a board for jens schematic?
Hi xsnailx,
Check this thread .
This is the one i'll be using. The board was posted a few threads later.

Hi Nick
I use a program called 'Fine Print PDF factory'. It's sortofa print driver. For making the 'films', just deselect tplace and bplace and print it. Also check the 'Black' in the print dialog. Next thing fine print is popping up with the output. Wonderfull thing, the PDF's allways print the right size, so you don't have to scale bitmaps or antyhing.
I know I'm holding you guys off, but final examens are in 2 days now.

i was offline for a moment .
Fine Print PDF factory does the same what acrobat does and yes it works great
Electro-Nick, i will test if the board works with my eagle in the evening - i am in work right now
Thomas, could you post your eagle files?

Arne K,
I just came across this article published in the September 2002 issue of the Silicon Chip Magazine.
http://www.crowcroft.net/kitsrus/k142_article.pdf
The layout of the boards are remarkably similar.
The circuit was designed by Frank Crivelli.
I first read about this in the KitRUs web site:

I'm also building a new pre-amp, and my plan is to use a remote-kit from here; http://www.circuitsonweb.com/resources/Projects/mir.html
It's so cheap (compared to others) that I just had to take the chance...
I guess it probably will be easier to drive a motor-pot than a relay-based pot with this?

Hi again,
I found Eagle files on that Korean (www.diymania.net) site (can't read it but those pictures .......
)
Anyway i found a zip file that contains a schematic and/or PCB design of the P1.7. At least thats wahat i think.
So if anyone of you out there could make it readable ..... that would be great. Maybe that design is more usefull.
Grtz,
Nick

note that it is adwisable to put an inverter to this circut so the relays are cllosed when audio signal is flowing
it can be accomplished with bl series inverters sez my mate from work
or the best solution is to use latching relays

Thanx xsnailx for the quick service.
But there was a *.brd file in that zip file. I guess that wasn't a complete Eagle file ?

Electro-Nick,
no problem count on me for help🙂
brd states for board eagle file
the others were gerber files
there was no schematic in this zip
btw.check this thread

Tonight the saga continues...
I finally had the time to finish up the 8 bit attenuator by Jens and installed it in my Aleph L. All I can say is what a huge difference. I was using two very high quality Bourns 25K 10 turn pots as my output attenuators. Gone is a slight wiriness at the extreme high end. And I thought this was comming from the CD player! Imaging is far better that it was and detail and such are vastly improved. All in all probably one of the biggest single improvments I've ever made in my system. I realize that its not the control part doing it....its the attenuator section, but the 8 bit counter and use of an encoder is really the novel part of the whole thing. Of course its easy to make a remote volume for this.....just put the encoder on the end of a cable.....no worry about hum!
Speaking of encoders Jens reccomends the Agilent (H-P) HEDS 5700 series encoders, 256 step version. I can't seem to find a US distributor for these. Does anyone know of a place to get them? Also, are these encoders equipped with a detent, or clicks as it goes around?

Hi Mark,
What R values do you use for the input of the L stage ?
221R and 10K ?
I'm happy to hear that the volume control can make such a difference. Was already a bit worried that the project would only take a lot fo free hours which also could be use for listening 😉

Allied, Newark carry Agilent encoders
Allied Electronics (www.alliedelec.com) and Newark (www.newark.com) both carry the Agilent Encoders. You will gover their minimum size with them so it's no problem.
Gee, to think that I bought my first kit from Allied in 1963 !

Nick, building it is very well worth the effort!! I have to go back and see what I used on the L as far as input components....I'm pretty sure I built it to stock specs though. Mine is version 2.
jackinnj,
Thanks for the tips on the encoders. I will check into it today.

I just ran across this site...
http://www.usdigital.com/
someone had listed it for an I.C. but they have alot more than just that. The encoders look more interesting to me than the Agilents do, so I will investigate it a bit. The pricing is reasonable too.
