Anyone managed to get their hands on a pair of these yet?

I have held them in my hand and heard them running full range no filtering in TL but not with my CDs. I would say like with all of the TB products I have heard, the performance far exceeds the price.
The German importer is relatively close to where I live and I can't help but drop by and see the new toys and what's cooking.
The build quality is quite impressive given the price and the sound was also quite impressive.

No US source I can find, however the single European vendor is listing the W5-1611SA at 65 Euro. Just judging by the current (and deplorable) exchange rate, that'll put this one ~$100, or likely over once all is said and done.

I wonder why the TB stuff is going up in price so quickly? They are no longer inexpensive bargains. I used to consider them as inexpensive alternatives to Fostex having less detail and a darker overall sound.
Agreed. PE's sales can still make the TB's real bargains, but the prices have nearly doubled from where they were 1.5 years ago (AFAIK). I'm guessing the weak dollar is part of the problem, but I'm not certain if the TB prices in Europe are rising as quickly.
At least HiVi is still offering very inexpensive options, even if they are more limited in total variety. I just wish PE would get their hands on another batch of the black-coned NS3-193's! I'm still kicking myself for not grabbing more than four when they were offered at $10 ea.

All industries are dealing with raising raw material cost. Nd has been going up at 15% per quarter lately. The exchange rate doesn't help either.

Hi,
Any news on this driver? Someone tried it? Looks very interesting! Computer says 50Hz - 3 dB in a BL horn of 45 liters netto...

Hi all
the german distributor made this project, a wall - like speaker without any BSC:

I have completed the horn (see a few posts back) and to make a long story short: great!
the horn respons compensates (as predicted and hoped for) for the baffle step, so these puppies play without filter components: music pure. imaging is absolutly fantastic, among the best I have heard, especially voices are so real, scary almost...

Hi Henkjan,
I am also working a project for 1611SA... However my box design knowledge is not much as yours..
Ok... I dont know anything about the transmission line or horn loaded boxes (or quarter wave something)...
This is the situation;
I have designed a simple bass reflex box for 1611SA (a 17lt and tuned @54.9Hz) . As WinISD says it will give ~52Hz @3dB with this box.
However after I saw your project and your comments on it, I am not sure to make my project anymore.. In fact I dont know the benefits of a horn loaded box but I guess its better than a simple vented box by the meaning of phase response..
Anyway,
I have examined your project, everything is ok but the felt and the baf wadding..
May you explain a bit please? Or do you have any picture of them? Because I think I will make your box.
Thanks a lot in advance..

Ozgur, what is it exactly that is not clear about the felt and the baf?
imho the best part of these horns is, that you can use them without any filters, and yet have an (almost) neutral sound

What shape will be this felt and baf?
I am asking that because (as mentioned) I dont know anything about the horn designs...
In the drawing they looks in two dimension so I couldnt imagine how they should be in 3d look.
Means the felt will be filled whole back chamber of the driver?
Or what? I really dont understand 😕

the felt is placed along the wall behind the driver, do in a sort of sqare U shape. the BAF in the top I glued to the wood as well. the other BAF can be placed how you see best as long as it does not obstruct the driver and it will stay in place
(unfourtunately I forgot to make photos)
