What is the cost for a pair of drivers and filters?
Never i had a good set of monitor speakers.🙁

These are quite excellent drivers, still being value oriented but performance is generally accepted as one of the best at a reasonable price.

RS180P-8 about $52 ea. Dayton Audio RS180P-8 7" Reference Paper Woofer 8 Ohm

RS28F-4 about $55 ea. Dayton Audio RS28F-4 1-1/8" Silk Dome Tweeter

B80 about 54 Euro ea. Visatonshop | Fullrange Systems

The 3-way passive crossover will be about $40 ea (maybe a little less) in parts using no-name brand parts - basic Chinese CBB film caps, no-name inductors, no name metal oxide non-inductive power resistors.

Cabinet is whatever wood you make it with. I bought pre-cut MDF flatpacks for $80 a pair. Denovo Audio Knock-Down MDF 0.56 cu. ft. Bookshelf Speaker Cabinet

About $360 in pieces and parts. You can imagine how much a commercial speaker with parts of this level of quality and design would cost. Maybe $5k?

Very tasty looking speakres. IMHO good You are going for 3way !! I have made several 2way monitors and there was allways something missing there. With 3 way there is way more flexibylity in design. RS drivers are very good (rs125 is my favorite one). Visaton B80 can work easy with a smaller TW too.
Post the results please when You will finish it up.

Regards

too good a build borys,
would give my left arm to have those for me.....

I have seas 22tff--RS125--MDS08 combo and it does the job good.

I am wondering how about RS series with the paper membrane You have, I must try someday one of them.

I have used both the paper and aluminum and they are both excellent. On the aluminum, there tends to be a bit of a breakup peak whereas that is all well damped with the paper. The paper will sound smoother, and because it is lighter, the sensitivity is a dB or two higher. I love my RS225-8 aluminum cone drivers. I have used both RS100 aluminum and paper - the aluminum sounds brighter, paper smoother - no surprise.

The B80 is a fantastic driver though - one of the greats for sure.

I have never looked at Seas MDS08, will check it out - that carbon fiber cone looks real high tech - probably very smooth sounding.

Thanks for the links Borys. Very useful for folks in Europe and elsewhere for a good DIY audio supplier. In the US, Parts Express and Madisound are pretty much about all you need to make most speakers. For pro audio drivers there are also numerous other sources.

I had an extremely hard time finding the B80 drivers in the US. They ended up coming from Canada and Germany via the goodwill of several DIYAUDIO members.

Yes, Dayton drivers are not always easily obtainable outside of US. I know folks in UK and France and Germany can seem to get them though. The funny thing is they are made in Taiwan, but people in Taiwan cannot get them as they have to go from factory to US and then a fortune to ship back to Taiwan.
folks in india too have access to dayton. i have 5 nos of RS100-8, intended for a home theater, lying in a box since 2 years. I need your suggestion on cabinet and BSC, I have it simmed in BOXSIM, nice program, like any other german programs, very very solid and stable, yet full of engineering.

The Visaton disrybutor is 25km away from my home in PL (twice a year I am there).

Unforutnatly the good speakers are expensive. My wife never know when I am buying speakers, she wont be happy 😀

I do not know why but I like a lot MTM configuration. You can try to make a nice MTM test enclosure + pair a small tweeter to it.
