by the way ... i had this amp and the sound was as you very well said rolled off but with a nice midrange I resold it to a girl who liked its look (that i hated)

Personalmente mi piacciono gli amplificatori che sono assoluti e veritieri ....ovviamente macchine del genere includono l'esecuzione perfetta di belle produzioni ma includono anche il pericolo di suonare una cattiva produzione che in realtà suonerà anche peggio come risultato finale.
Mi sembra che questa volta i NAD tendano ad arrotondare i bordi o ti lascino con l'impressione che il suono che ascolti possa essere dolce ma in qualche modo elaborato da qualcosa ... non è naturale ...
Mi sembra che il suono sia come se qualcuno avesse introdotto un equalizzatore nel sistema e poi qualcun altro avesse introdotto un altro equalizzatore per annullare la differenza tonale dall'equalizzazione precedente.
Costruzione caotica a mille tensioni all'interno di un sacco di trafos marginali di stabilizzazione locale e enormi transistor di uscita..

big filter capacitors will be good to be replaced but not mandatory

for a machine that old you need to replace all capacitors and by all means it cold be that the small ones might be far more critical
than the big ones both for perrformance and long term stability
relays also, trimers also , inspection of soldering is also mandatory
