Making progress, reichelt supplied a different infared sensor so I am unable to complete setup. Would this cause it to keep the output muted? I ended up using AMB audio's modified Jbis with gain.

Bill, I will send you small, round infrared-sensor. You will have it until the end of this week.
Reichelt's sensor will work as well, of course.
Best regards - Rudi

Take the top - LDR-pair as shunts and the bottom - LDR-pair as serials.

Thanks rudi for the fast answer!
I read some of the last pages of this thread and there was a conversation about a buffer! Should I use such a buffer for my SymAsym and the VCPre with sources like PC-Audio (through USB) and CD-Player ...
Thank you in advance.
Greetings Ron
Rudi,
If you had not yet sent it don't worry about it I will pick one up here from mouser, I need some other stuff anyway.

So, Bill, I will not send the IR-sensors to you!
Your build looks beautiful.
I am currently busy with Rev.2 of the VCPre, which will include a buffer (Calvin's buffer) on the PCB and have a separate PSU for the VCPre Rev.2 and Subbu's (Jean-Paul's) DAC,
which I am going to put into the same case as well.
Best regards - Rudi

Rudi...with you I will go bankrupt!!
Hi Rudi,
Could you share with us that new toy?😀
I mean some more info and details and costs...
Regards
Jorge😉

Jorge, Ivan: this is what I am planning to do this winter.
I do not know, if I will succeed. But this project will not ruin me 😱 !
Will it be a nice passive Pre-amplifier instead 😕?
Integrating 2 of CALVIN's buffers into the VCPre Rev.2 - PCB, adding Jean-Paul's / Subbu DAC, giving them a separate PSU and putting all of the PCBs into a nice case!
Best regards - Rudi
P.S.: Yes, Ivan: I like Jean-Paul's creations very much!
It will take some time, though!

I will integrate my dac/jg buffer/ vcpre in one box.
I was thinking about calvin buffer because jg buffer is only for digital so calvin would take care of analog signal , but I d be able to add switch if I need more buffering to the digital...
Not sure I need calving, so thinking my chain through again 🙂
Most probably I will opt for it.

I see you got a taste of SMT soldering and just could not stop. I have to tell you though Patricks JG buffer was a real peach to solder.

Hi Rudy,
If you choose for the Calvin buffers please use better decoupling of the power rails than the original PCBs. Unbelievable that decoupling caps are omitted.
If you include the power supply for our DAC on your board feel free to use our schematic. It is a very good performer, better than 95 % of recent LDO regs.
So it seems I will be buying yet another PCB from you. Are you sure you weren't good at marketing ? 😉
BTW my VCPre is ready except that I don't have the 100 kOhm potentiometer. Reading comments from builders maybe it is wise to quit the dB indication but uses dots instead (so no written value). If the dB reading is flaky from the start better omit it to avoid irritation.

Regarding power supply for buffers, i tried 3 different regulators for Joachim Gerhard buffer connected to my Subbu V3 DAC and i had different sound from everyone. One was the standard LM317/LM337, second a cap multiplier and third was simple shunt with LM337 configured like a CCS and i would say i liked the third one very much.
So Rudi maybe you should try something more advanced than this simple reg that you proposed to squeeze every piece of music from you system.

Atupi can you elaborate more on lm337 css one ? I ll be doing pre dac combo with jg buffer on dac side and wanted to add salas sslv but I m open for any ideas...
True. I need small footprint cause squeezing everything into one case so any decent psu would be good.
The only thing I am afraid I am unable to replicate it on perfoboard or etch my own pcb, so need a ready made solution.
From what I understand JGbuffer can be feed from psu of subbu dac.

Jg buffer needs minimum +/12v so no chance to use DAC Psu wich is providing only +5v . If you have time maybe i can share my pcb project so you can etch your own boards. My target is 100x50mm pcb for buffer PSU including small transformer
