Tibi, Guido Tent has made it very clear in his experience that the clock will work best if fed from its own 5V supply. so okay, how do I do this?
8V supply for mechanism only - remove L4
Separate 5V supply for clock - ?
Separate 5V supply for everything else needing 5V - ?
Tony,
8V supply for mechanism only - remove L4
Separate 5V supply for clock - remove L8 and feed tentlabs supply after L8
Separate 5V supply for everything else needing 5V - feed on V4

Tibi
Okay. Thanks. I'm a little worried using so many supplies with the possibility of haiving different ground potentials.
Tibi, with your toroid and PS PCB, what the maximum voltage I can get out of it? (while keeping expected performance of course)
Well, it's time for me to sh!t or get off the pot, as they say, with this build. I ordered all the parts to build 2 of Per-Anders' SSR01 super regulators in 5V. One for the clock, one for the rest of the board.

Output trafo is 2 x 9V with median (center-tapped).
With full-wave rectifier, center-tapped design you can get 9 x 1.4142=12.7278 V after filtering.
With full-wave bridge rectifier you may get 2 x 9 x 1.4142 = 25.4556 V after rectification.

Excellent. More than enough to feed a P-A super-reg. What's the maximum current output?
2.7 A

Thought I'd post to say I got my Tent Labs XO. Just waiting on a few more parts before I can start putting together my custom version.
