Given that these sightings are real, my guess is that they are highly advanced autonomous space crafts from elsewhere in our galaxy.
No organic creature could survive the g-forces of their maneuvers. These craft most likely use Quantum Physics Entanglement to instantaneously communicate with the base planet. They are probably debating whether or not there is intelligent life on Earth.
Isn't this the kind of thing humans will likely be doing after a thousand more years of technical advancements? - providing we don't toast our planet with global warming or nuclear war.

It already did. We've got jellyfish in the water, jellybirds in the air and jelly people (a. k. a. spineless people) among us.
Here's the deal - as an old USAF radar man, and occasional visitor to SETI's Mountain View and Los Altos CA headquarters - if an object is detected by two grossly different technologies, it's real.
Too bad it was a potential career killer for the military pilots who saw UFOs when they were still called UFOs.
Since mathematicians and scientists routinely work with imaginary numbers, what's the big deal if the Contraction and Relativity formulas go imaginary beyond the speed of light? We just have to avoid moving a mass very near "c".
Like an Esaki diode, we'll have to simply tunnel through the barrier before it bites us. We'll have to do something similar with black holes. I still have a couple of those ancient diodes. With them and a flux capacitor, I should be able to make my RAV4 outperform the new DeLorean Alpha5.
Have any of you ever seen the original conceptual drawings of the complete Allen Telescope Array and wondered if the designers were smoking something? The layout faked me out for a few seconds, until I realized the beauty of their concept. It never seems to be mentioned.
