What's the problem? An alien put something special in your corn flakes this morning? How is that not a legitimate question? You made the comment and you want me to research and verify it?
Perhaps you could consult with yer good ole' wisdom you've forgotten about.

Why would astronomers & amateurs with telescopes who are "looking up" all the time, would have a far lower rate of UFO sightings? "...because we know what the hell we're looking at!".
Flying saucers on cave paintings?...no doubt a modern interpretation...in the thirties I'd guess it was remarkably thought as a futuristic dirigible ....before that at the turn of the century, a balloon ....curious, what would peoples of the middle-ages think "it surely is"...........BC times?...the Gods?, Hermes flying along?

I don't know, but here are six possibilities off the top of my head:
1) You don't actually know that other Navy's haven't seen them.
2) Because the UFOs wish to be seen by the world's most powerful Navy.
3) Air Force pilots have reported UFOs since WWII, so, not only the Navy.
4) World Commercial pilots have reported UFOs for decades.
5) Private pilots have reported UFOs since at least Kenneth Arnold, in 1947.
6) It's not only humans, on-board cameras have now 'seen' them too.
Your question can be asked of us, but only answered by the intelligence behind the craft. Whether under human control or not, they should be a national security matter of the greatest concern.

So I'm a little confused by your reply.I was referring specifically to the topic header and the "every day for at least a couple of years" time frame.
BTW, has anyone else seen the short article in the current Popular Mechanics discussing "proportionality bias"? It's at least as interesting as anything in this thread.

It should not be confusing. Now, I could say that I read the prior posting first, because - it was first. But didn't notice the second posting until, later, because - it was second. However, the fact is that threads are sometimes simply too long to read every posting, so I sometimes have to skim through them, and end up responding to the occasion posting which catches my eye for whatever reason. There is no attempt to cherry pick your comments for ridicule, if that what you suspect.
That proportionality bias article sounds interesting. I'm always game to learn something. Can you post it, or a link to it, so that we may be educated?

Doh! 😱
Well, sure. I've said I don't get worked up about any of this.
And I'm perfectly willing to accept that as my view of "proportion."
I read Klass' "UFO Curse" the other day in his Wikipedia entry. I wasn't previously aware of it. It sounds dreaded, but I take it as tongue-in-cheek -type humor.

No, I understand. I wasn't ascribing any ulterior motive. I prefer to "keep it fun" and not focus on motive or character attacks. The opposite may have been a younger me and a younger internet, admittedly. Now, that's more like "pooping where I live" and there's no worthwhile gain.It should not be confusing. Now, I could say that I read the prior posting first, because - it was first. No, unfortunately. I happened across it while waiting (it is the cover story, on "Conspiracy Theories") but looked for it online after I returned home. I couldn't remember the name, only that it began with "p." It's behind the subscriber paywall, but the search did allow me to recall the term. That proportionality bias article sounds interesting. The gist, though, of proportional bias is that we seek an answer that is as fantastic or overwhelming as the question (ie, the experience). The article gives some examples from the mundane to the extraordinary.

that image is pure human generated fiction. It even has that 50’s style to it, but the artist got it wrong, these flying saucers were streamlined for pushing their thin edge through the air, sideways or whatever and here we have a good ole fashioned rocket engine exhaust with no room to house the rocket assembly and pushing the flat disc against the air. Clearly an artist with no knowledge of basic science.
I thought the same about that drawing, but hey, it's the interpretation of a caveman, after all they didn't know anything about rocket propulsion ...😉
"It has been clear for a while that anatomically modern humans appeared in Africa about 200,000 years ago,"that image is pure human generated fiction
The cave dwellers weren't human?

I’m beginning to think that humans have started to run out of things to assign as the cause for stuff they don’t understand, or saw after a few too many glasses of elixir. As time progresses we explain more and more, advance our science and technology. What’s left as a reason for people to justify their assertions about weird stuff? Magic was popular in the middle ages and beyond but it’s kinda had it’s day now, there were a multitude of spirits and gods but not much consistence across the globe on that front, we’ve seen the backside of the moon and close ups of Mars, we’ve been deep into the oceans, eliminated the possibility of a hollow earth, determined the earth is a globe without monsters at the rim. Seriously, what’s left for the loonie fringe except aliens ???

but the loonies don’t understand any of these physics properly so rather than embarrass themselves they claim that aliens have the relevant knowledge and are busy using it to visit us!
the physicists who know the most about it are searching for better theories and aren’t looking to aliens for the answer.
