I am trying to grasp good principles for plinth construction and mounting, and don't necessarily have the correct words.
Is it fair to describe the philosophy to be to allow all vibration to transmit away from the arm/TT freely without any unnecessary impedance through the whole of the assembly of the plinth and then give it a high mass sink for absorption and damping in the base unit, when it is well away from the source and hopefully without reflection back into the plinth?

Thanks. I've seen and heard it but didn't realise it was based on EDS1000. Very interesting.
The 701 sounded much better than any other DD deck i had. Used the motor in a diy concoction many years ago.
Its not only the drive, its the clever lightweight design. Heavy overdamped designs have mostly heavy and overdamped sound with bad timing.

You need elements in both speaker cabinets and turntable plinth who eleminate vibration energy very fast.Bear in mind the most energy in turntables are not from the motor or bearing its the wave from speakers.
Look at this speaker designs, they sound much faster than any Wilson or Magico. I heared Votts build from 5mm plywood and 16mm in comparsion. The thinner Material sounds way better

The best plinth is no plinth. I am in minimalist camp so my plinths are small with high density and well damped.
Resin Bentonite is a great material and reasonably inexpensive compared to Panzerholtz. Basically it's polyester resin and bentonite kitty litter.

fine construction concrete might be just the cheapest best material for anything audio...
Avonite worksurface is basically the same, filled resin and i have quite a few bits, i guess it echos with the Corian enthusiasts as that again is filled resin
