but i had some versions beforehand leading to this one
my first attempt was just a copy off the cs2 in concrete
and the second one was a attempt at the cs 1 with 4 woofers per side
wired out off phase but it gave me not the results i wanted

thanks ..and it’s not to difficult to do actually concrete is cheap/ liquid silicone will cost a bit more but not to much i think

I also have a set of stone speakers. Mine are stone, aluminium and plywood. The layers keep it light-ish at about 25kg each, while keeping the looks of the stone.
If you have a minute, I'd love to see the distortion measurements of a full concrete slab. Should be low. I'd like to compare with mine. 🙂

Here's a quick pic of my temporary OB setup, just to break in the new Audio Nirvana Super 12's which are playing fullrange. Running a single Eminence Acoustinator N2012 Neo woofer per side to provide bass below 200 Hz, and they do extremely well in doing so, extending deep into the mid 30's.
Running a dbx Driverack Venu 360 for crossover duty only, 200 Hz @ 24 dB on the N2012 woofers. The AN Super 12's are getting a fullrange signal. Each OB is being vertically bi-amped by the Carver M-500t MkII amps.
The final OB will be very similar to the P.A.P. Quintet15, only using the N2012 woofers (four per channel) and the AN Super 12. Just ordered the last pair of N2012 woofers from Danny Richie last night. I can't wait to hear the final system results. These temp OB's already sound amazing!

the result off 4 alphas15 per side gave me some more spl and a little more low end punch but also some ugly resonances i could not get rid off with eq
aldo i did not used a computer based crossover /filter .but used a dcx2496

Here´s my latest dipole. It has a very good Wife Acceptance Factor as it is only
700x400 mm in size!
Sensitivity is around 91 dB/2.82 volt, crossover at 500 Hz
The whole surface of the Diy (expensive) mid/high planar unit works up to 2000 Hz, there after it´s only the middle tracks working to 30 Khz. The outer half of these middle tracks gets shortened at 4 Khz for better dispersion. If You want even better sound, you can stack those planars up to the ceiling!
The base is a Eminence Delta lite 2515, with 99 Db sensitivity. I had to drive it via a step up transformer to keep up with the sensitivity of the planar unit.
Sound degrading things as resistors and Dsp:s are forbidden in my world!

An update of a build I posted a while back.
It's a wall-mounted OB using the Seas Excel C18 coax, with sealed boundary woofers using the Peerless SLS10.
Similar concept to the Lyngdorf DP1.
Almost invisible, but sounds at least as good as my old Orions (at lowish levels).

I use analog active 4th order crossovers, with built in phase alignment, and some boost capabilities at 50hz, 10000hz, and switchable horn eq, phase switching for each channel, etc.
Do you think there's an advantage for me to use dsp?
It would add a conversion step, since I still listen to a lot of vinyl.
Did you make the planar speakers yourself?
Yes, it has been a 3-year project, trying different ways of manufacturing the membrane, different magnet configurations, number of tracks and many other parameters. The present planar beats all of my prior work to smithereens, including my 2 meter, Metglas-transformer driven, true ribbon.
The membrane weighs less than one gram and third-harmonic distortion is around 0.1 % from 500 Hz all the way up to 30 kHz.
It would be fun to share how to build them, but the membrane requires too much specialized equipment and materials for DIY:ing.
The planar frame is simple to build, using a 3D printer, some neodym magnets and a metal saw.

This is my open baffle design. The cabinet is hand build by dear friend the late Hans Kortenbach from Musical Affairs.
The sides are made of thin sidka spruce wood specially selected for the right tone. The side walls were tuned during a period of 6months by adding braces on the inside; position, length and thickness is very critical. This cabinet is build like an instrument.
The cabinet finish is done with a lacquer based on shellack and oils in order to create the right tone and not emphasize some resonance frequencies.
The 12” unit is fixed to the back of the cabinet resulting in less stress and resonances on the baffle.
The 12” wide range unit is an EMS LB12EX field coil unit with modified phase plug. The big advantige of this unit is it’s field coil drive prinicple, this gets rid of the non linear magnetic field of a magnet and delivers superior micro dynamics. Efficiency is around 96db.

Power supply consists of a choke loaded DC supply with Elna Silmic capacitors, tuned voltage is around 10,35V. By changing the voltage the Q factor of the unit is altered, in this way the unit can be tuned to blend in with the cabinet and room acoustics.
The tweeter is a piezo type from Phy build in a nice bronze enclosure.
Filtering is only on the tweeter, first order with Duelund cap and resistor.
I am very happy with the result. I run these speakers with diy single ended triode amps putting out a whopping 5Watts, this is enough power to put the windows of the living room into resonating 😀
