TPA3116D2 Amp

Yikes 30 euro for just the PCB excluding shipping, I'm trying to save some money 😱

I can get one locally for 15 euro including the LM4780, okay it does not have a zobel and/or thiele network but as far as I know nobody ever had problems with that version even though he sold over a hundred PCBs
I suppose $30USD for just the PCB is high when you're talking $6 for completed amp boards. 🙂 I wasn't necessarily going for cheap, as much as the sound. And boy, was I pleasantly surprised. It blew my socks off! The most transparent sounding amp I've built. So, despite the overall cost (>$300 including enclosure), it's one of the better amps and first gainclone I've put together. But I have a drawer full of $10 amps too. 😀

The linear regulated power supply like this Astron sounds far better than the cheapo SMPS.

In 2013, using the ampboards available from china then I believe in this thread it was found that above ~21V treble became more stressed than below 21V. Many people stil buy the amboards that were available then, meaning for them it is probably still valid.

No pops with the green board or the dual chip board.

+1 On the dual chip board @ 100WPC off EBAY. I purchased one to try, and I liked it so much, I ordered another for my patio speakers. No MODS! I used it right out of the box with a SMAKIN 24VDC 5A computer brick off Amazon. Only have $28.00 and change invested in the whole rig, plus plywood scraps from my speaker builds for the box.

Mac🙂

Here's my first dual chip mounted to a $25 Pyramid PS-3KS regulated. I just ordered an Astron SL-15R which I plan to use with another dual chip 3116.

I have a more powerful Meanwell but prefer the Pyramid.
