Hi,

Fellows maybe you may like to use battery to power the 3116 instead of PSU or Linear PS. I use 4*12 Vdc battery connected in series and parallel to give me 24Vdc. I can play music continuously for more than 4-5 hours without the need to charge them in between times. I use them on my TK2050 and will test them on my latest purchase, a 3116.

Give it a try and you would be pleasantly surprise.

Yes, I use Powersonic battery, model: 1250, cheap in the States.

More humble modifications to my smsl SA-36A PRO TPA3118 powered with an AMB sigma-11 @ 18V.

Did the 2x OSCONs last week. Today it got 8x Panasonic FM 820uF (10x25mm). Fit beautifully in the case with ~5mm clearance at the top. The stock 470uF are shown for comparison. Sounds fine - need more listening time to say more. I suspect that with a really capable PS these capacitor changes make less difference, but I'll take whatever I can get.

Cheap thrills!

edit: Almost forgot to add...very minor turn-off thump stayed about the same over these last two upgrades, maybe a little less after the FMs.

I've got some 470uf Panasonic FMs as well, how do you find the improvements after installing them together with the OSCONs?

I used these Digi-Key part numbers suggested by others:

I have done all mods except the input transformer mod and the snubber mod. I am still not really pleased with the sound. It is sort of metallic and blunt.

Two thumbs up for 8x FM + 2x OSCON. Bit smoother and more "musical" is all I can say. Makes me want to listen more. Well worth the small investment in time/money.

Can i use LL7401 transformer (Linn (Akurate DS/1) used them with Wolfson DAC out) direct out from AK4399 x 2 and direct in (without coupling capacitors) to TPA3118? Thanks in advance.
