TPA3116D2 Amp

No, you should replace all 4 caps for ones with the same value. Too bad the small ones are 5 mm pitch.

After reading the datasheet, I was going to change the big input caps to 2.2 uF Jantzen caps, but now it seems I also have to get some small wimas. I assume the right place to put the wimas is beside the big input caps.

I was also going to change 1000 uF electrolytics to Panasonic FR 2200 uF caps, but after reading what has been said about big caps close to the chip, I'm not so sure about this. I'm still going to use Epcos 10k uF, 63V as a tank cap.

Any thoughts about this?

I have blue/black YJ board with default gain. I wanted to use Jantzen caps because I already had them.

Danzz, I love your board. I wish you would make one that fixes whatever errors. YJ failed to correct and can still be easily modded. A super mod board for people to play with.

I like the idea of the smd board for dsp, but that's no fun if you cannot play with parts.

I just wanted to say thank you for the design of the blue board. I have been having a lot of fun changing parts and the music sounds so great.

Also, I have a 6n3 6z4 pre from China and I want to make an integrated amp with it and the YJ 3116 too...

So, please keep us posted on your build. I have not worked with tubes or transformes, so I would like to follow someone else's project before I start mine.

Danzz,
That new board is sweet! Thanks for taking my request on - nothing better than having a resident PCB designer for customs. 🙂 I think having a dual mono block option is great. The miniDSP form factor is even better. Maybe miniDSP will make this if not YJ. We can all hope for the tooth fairy I guess.

Thanks a lot for the support!!!...
About the smd board... It was a decision made to have it simple to fit all components in that size board, I started this project with through holes components for the output filter and for the input caps, but to make it easier and becouse XRK971 prefered and I didnt mind I did it with smt, maybe when I finish totally this smd board, I will retake the drafts I have of it and finish it.... first I want to make sure that this one its properly done and has no fatal errors...

so, I swapped out the 20kohm gain resistor on one of my boards and replaced it with a 39kohm to boost the gain up to 32db. An easy swap and now the YJ blue board is REALLY loud with my nexus 7 tablet as a source.

again, with B652 speakers, so those only play down to 60-70Hz, so I don't notice much of a bass loss, even with the stock 1Uf input caps.

I have some larger caps on order--4.7uF, couldn't find the WIMA caps in the data sheet spec 5.6uF for that gain setting.

Now this this is definitely too loud to turn up all the way for near field on my desk...

WOW.

it cranks the Kruder and Dorfmeister drum and bass...

Gentlemen,

Need your advice on a suitable power supply for a 6 channel variant (picture attached). Plan is to use 5 channels of this board with the help of a 5.1 preamp, and drive the sub with a separate amplifier altogether.

How many watts of power do you think you will need? The biggest power supply I know is the Meanwell at 24 volts and 6 amps. You might just try a regular 19v 4.6 amp laptop brick and see how it works. It might be fine for most uses unless you are driving speakers really loud. Most of the time I think 8 watts output per channel is plenty. That is 50 watts total and maybe upgrade power caps to something bigger for reserve when bass notes hit.

There are much bigger Mean Wells available, up to kW and over. Something like the NES-XXX-24 models may work well though (I hope so since I've bought four NES-100-24, not gotten my TPA3116 amps yet though), they are available up to 350W with the NES-350-24. That should be able to drive five 4 ohm speakers at 50w continously 🙂

TPA3118 haohwq taobao compact board

I have been lurking around this thread for quite some time. I was uncertain whether to pick a TPA3116 Blue YJ (dannz designed) board, a Chengzi board or the inexpensive TPA3110 Sure board. Finally I took a risky move and choose a less known TPA3118 board which it is only available through TaoBao.

It has arrived and now its driving a pair of Philips speakers rated at 12 Ohm 40W RMS each one. It is running from a 12V SLA right now and the sound is great!

AlsoTao is one of the less clumsy TaoBao agent services I know. I paid just 9.75 USD and got it delivered by airmail to Spain. What do you think about it?

Potentiometer with on/off switch position
Blue led light
3.5mm jack
By default it comes in Stereo mode
Dimensions are 5 x 5 cm and less than 2 cm height , I still have to find a suitable case.

The TaoBao agent service I used.

That Taobao 3118 board looks nice. Very compact. How long did shipping take?

PS SM caps not very good and definitely not as good as the "weiner"
