Final matte black, two coats. These pictures are twenty minutes after paint so they will matte out more and even out.

Matt black color looks good. Was the paint 2- component or just one? Or did you use matt-paste with the paint? Car paint, or something else? What kind of amplication and source are you going to use? Please write how it sounds when you have them finished and used sometime.
 
Midrange seems very pushed back. My wife came home late last night and said it was hard to understand voices on TV. Meh...

Sounds like something is wrong.

To start with, I'd hook each speaker up individually to see if the problem is only on one side. If it's on both sides then my guess is a wiring fault. Make sure you have the drivers wired up with the correct polarity (correct may mean reverse polarity). Also check the crossover for wiring faults.

If the fault is only on one side you can swop parts with the working speaker until you find the fault.
