Unless it looks like the amp is driving your speakers to their peak excursion or something, leave them connected.
So it looks like all but one person have received their amps, time to get rid of the rest. Three fully built amps remain, all have 10uH Sagami inductors and I can set them up for 4 ohm or 6 ohm/TI operation. Amps are $95 CAD/pop, I'll throw in the extra caps so you can switch between 4/6 ohm operation for an extra $5.
Shipping is $15 CAD anywhere in the world.
Also have tons of blank PCBs available, and two more sets of 10uH Sagami inductors.
2nd group buy will be starting the moment that 1D14A-100M is back in stock at Mouser.

Well still haven't seen mine, even when sent last time after you asked, they should have been here if shipping is comparable with canada post from Dug (Ontario).
Hi Gary,
Sent you a PM so I can get my stuff too 🙂
One thing I did not read is what your personal impressions are of your own design?
Just another amp that goes boom 🙂
I still want to compare against my tpa3100d2 implementation.
Cheers
Rick

Hello GMARSH,
I have not received the board.

Hello gmarsh,
I still have not received the board also
thanks

Never mind. 3 amps unaccounted for. irribeo's was my fault, paugie/kp93300 still haven't got theirs. Interestingly enough they're the only two amps that were sent to east asia, maybe (hopefully!) there's some bottleneck there...
I have to order more parts to build a 2nd 8 ohm amp. Maybe it's time to get group buy #2 on the go...

With the 8 ohm configuration into my New Advent speakers, I quite like it. Though I don't really trust my own ears for absolute measurements.Hi Gary,

A good enclosure ?
Does any one want to share some creative ideas ? I have in the past used a lot of Hammond/similar enclosures but would like to try something else.

It could also be a problem with the bootstrap caps. This can be discovered by a diode test on a DVM in reverse polarity.
I had a fault similar to this that cooked a different board but same chip. I always wondered if it was my bootstraps - but didn't know how to test.
I had the same sequence, too (no LED on my board).
In my case, I was moronic enough to wire the VCC into the B+ and B-. It never did recover from that. Doh!
After that, there was no amount of rework to the board itself that could fix a bunch of now "cooked" smd components. I burnt 2 TPA chips seeing if I was superhuman.
I'm not superhuman. 🙁
Hello GMARSH,
I'm testing your amp, only the first test but it seem to work well with dinamic speakers but completely dislike electrostatic ones.
When I connect to my cells it makes something like white noise at high level and I can hear far the music at very low level.
I've tried many types of linear PSU and batteries and also I put a 16ohm resistor in parallel on the output but no change.
What do you think about?
Regards
Guglielmo

What are "cells" ?
Hello,
here you can find the link to the cells:
Mini Panels
They have a passive 12db/oct crossover and works from 250hz to the top end on my system.
I'm using with good results with Fetzilla and F2J amps.

When impedance swing is to much for the 3118 a series resistor might be better. But I also wonder about the electronics pcb, do you have photo of speaker pcb bottomside ?
3116 plays here with some larger electrostatic panels, limited volumelevels for stereoboards befor protection switches off tpachip, in PBTL mono that doesn't happen here on my speaker, but I have seen it on a smaller panel (dropping impedance sooner and maybe lower even), but both times normal music till protection cuts in.

You do realize that putting a resistor in parallel with the speakers on the outputs actually lowers the total impedance the amplifier sees?
I finally installed The Wiener amp in a "1506" Aluminum enclosure I purchased from eBay. This is a really nice enclosure and the assembly was straight forward. I mounted the CineMag CMLI-15/15B input transformers on an angle bracket fastened to the bottom half of the split chassis and shortened the wires from the transformers to the amp.

I am going to mount a small green LED on the faceplate after I have it anodized to match my Audio Research line stage and phono stage preamps.

Rhing,
Impressive work. neat and tidy .
This must be the best sounding TPA amp of yours.
