The question of two serie doubler is a good one. I bet Andrea will perform measurments to know the better trade offs. Yes a SX and DX needed for FifoPi due to the fliped patern of one socket area vs the older Ian's clok boards. I assue 2 x sin converter needed as well : one for each socket as the new oscillators boards are standalone frequency : basicly all needs to be x2 for using both frequency or choose your poison -I chosed as I'm mainly Red-Book and use a 16 bits old dac chip-

Hold on... I thought I had this worked out, but now I am confused again. Could someone explain / confirm the following:

What are the options for a FiFoPi if I want high-res support up to 176.4 kHz // 192 kHz?
(1) Go with 1 x 5.6448 MHz crystal and 1 x 6.144 MHz crystal, and add frequency doublers. How many frequency doubler boards are necessary?
(2) Go with higher-frequency crystals --> which values do I need?

I guess that once I and the other noobs have asked all the stupid questions it would be useful to add some guidelines for newcomers to the first post of this thread. This would make it much easier to find the information without working through hundreds of posts.
 
There is a table in Ian’s Fifopi documentation where you can see the supported clock frequencies with the resulting possible sampling frequencies.

For 176/192 Fs you will need the 22/24MHz clock frequencies the rest should be simple math ;)

Why the SC-Cut regultor should never switched off whether power supplied by battery or main ? Is there a risk of breaking or performance loss at the next start up ? Or is it just because temperature stability that is a little long to get when switching on ?

I ask because LiFePo4 will do if I can get it out for charging them if needed after switched off the oscillator. I assume you will edit the manual soon to know more about the BOM and voltage needed as this list is just a prequel. It will help to know about the regs, bateries, number of transformers (one needed for an oscillator and one more if a doubler if I understood, and so on .

So a little correction for your main need - number of Xtal & Transformers for moq- waiting for the further informations to decide for the rest of pcb :

i'm very interested in your oscillators but i'm new here and i can't understand how they are implemented. Sorry i'm scared by having to read hundred of pages to get updated...

Could you please explain what is included in a finished PCB and what is still needed?
Are transformers included in finished PCBs? And sine to square converters? And PSUs?
Are frequency doublers and sine to square converters needed one for each clock or can we use single ones operating on the selected output frequency?
How is frequency selection operated?
Are your battery PSU boards coming soon (before the GB will be closed)?

Finished board include all the components soldered, crystal and power supply excluded.

Sine to square converters are separate boards, since the output of the new oscillators (except for the entry level Pierce gate based) is sine wave.
Sine to Square converter boards operate at all the frequencies, from 5/6 MHz up to 90/98 MHz.

Frequency doubler are different for each frequency (5/6 to 11/12, 11/12 to 22/24, 22/24 to 45/49 and 45/49 to 90/98). One doubler for one oscillator, so if you want 11/12 from 5/6 MHz you need 2 oscillators and 2 doublers.

There is no frequency selection, since each oscillator is a separate board (I also suggest separate box).

The regulators TWRPS-UGL and TWRPS-pp provide power supply for a pair of oscillators.

I'm not sure the new battery power supply will come within the end of this GB, maybe, we will do the best.

Right, each oscillator is a single frequency, so one sine to square converter for each oscillator.

Right, the frequencies required depending on source, recloker (eg. Ian's FITO or Fifopi), DAC and sampling frequency.

I would suggest to everyone:
don't put clock boards, reclocker and DAC close to the Raspberry, it generates a lot of RFI/EMI.
Keep the Raspberry as far as possible from the other devices, and put each oscillator in a separate box an then use SMA cable.

Oscillators takes a long time to reach the best phase noise performance (weeks). They also need a certain time to get stability after power on, so it's better to leave them always power on.

I will publish all (BOM, assembly instructions, tips and so on) after the final tuning of each device.

Just to be sure, It's not possible to feed Twisted Pear's Cronus with these new clocks (no half duty cycle)?

And what is the difference between new Driscoll and new difefrential XOs?

I believe you can feed the Cronus with these oscillators, you have to use the sine to square converter after the XO to get 50% duty cycle square wave.

Driscoll and Differential: different circuits but similar performance, please wait for the final plots to see the difference.
