Agreed, last time we did hardwood flooring, it was two weeks before installation we had to keep the temp stable, not after. Our current cork glue-down floors also required two weeks conditioning before installation.
We had to pay to heat the place with propane for two weeks after the drywall mudding.....$800. Then the flooring guys wanted 65 degrees minimum during installation and 70 for two weeks after for the flooring, plus a dehumidifier running in the basement........It's not that big of a deal now since we close tomorrow and are already stuffing the basement. We will dial it back to the mid 60's tomorrow. It will have been 2 weeks.

Fun in the Snow Boston Style
Mayor urges knucklehead Bostonians not to jump out of windows and into the snow - The Washington Post
And rather less amusing for the people like my wife who depend on the MBTA to get them to and from work every day.

Looks like fun, just make sure the snow isn't hiding that fireplug you conveniently forgot about.....or the snow isn't crusted over with an ice-layer.
What a droll Mayor to bitch about the people actually having fun....he must be the party buzz-kill...the boring one.
One of the jumpers was wearing safety gear in the form of a motorcycle helmet.
They are nothing like as daft at that kill joy says they are.

Perhaps.... liability is the kill-joy not the mayor? We have something similar here when local kids want to skate on frozen ponds. If they fall through the ice the local city is vulnerable so they have to say it's a bad idea in order to show due diligence.
Of course, a cycle helmet will not prevent a metal spike (use for a dog leash etc.) from piercing your liver should it be hidden under the snow bank.

High today -10C. We have been setting records for the last several days.
Tonight we expect to hit -20C, with the previous record at -10C..... Oh joy.
I may or may not go to work tomorrow. The truck took 6 seconds for oil pressure to reach normal this morning. I don't view that as a good omen.
Forecast for tomorrow night is more snow and bitter cold.

you even made the BBC news front page BBC News - Record-breaking cold descends on eastern US . I like proper winters, but that is a bit too proper!
Currently about -8 C here and expected to reach -18 C later tonight. Snow squalls during the day, and last night we got between 2 - 3 inches. (5 - 7.5cm) The interesting thing is how fluffy and light this snow has been so far.
We're approaching the 3 meter mark so I am hoping this will be over soon and warmer weather will prevail.

Yesterday we closed on our new house. I took a walk around the outside, but didn't stay outside long.
The thermometer on the neighbors porch read -6F (-21C) at noon. It didn't record the persistent 10 - 20 MPH wind.
The creek that runs behind the house turned to ice last week. There is about 4 inches of fresh snow on top of the ice. Yesterday I saw a deer walk on water!
The "eskimo" walking across the snow is Sherri.
Even I had a jacket on.
Today we started moving stuff out of a rental storage unit down on the Ohio River. We made 3 trips before giving up. It is no fun moving stuff in -25 degree wind chill. The TV said not to go outside today, schools and most other businesses are closed......we now believe them.

It was -24 C a couple days ago, with wind chill to -40 or more..... we went downhill skiing.
Dress well, no exposed skin, and you're good to go!

Congratulations on the closing! Can imagine moving stuff under the current conditions would not be much fun..
Now colder in your neck of the woods than mine. Tomorrow's big project is to replace some wear items on my snow blower like the skid shoes which have disintegrated after 11 seasons...
Start new contract job in early march, 31 mile commute each way, hope to be clear of the worst of this by then.

Great closing on your own home is always wonderful. I'm here in Fl and it is still in the 40's this really sucks.
Scott, you must have brought it with you.. lol
Depending on where you are it won't be cold for long hopefully.
