After a long time waiting for Riken caps at my provider, they have a very good testimonial at humble, but finally the value I wanted could not be delivered within weeks.
So I changed to Jantzen Z superior, and still had to wait, but finally they arrived yesterday and I build up the first circuit Zen Mod showed in post #72 and it sounds very very good now!
Sometimes there might be on piano on certain notes a kind of ringing, so my final try will,be the 3k resonance damping filter shown in the later picture.
So thank you very much Zen Mod for this Mod!
🙂

according to memory - where are they now , comparing to teuer drek , which they replaced ?
keep us informed about further phases
keep us informed about further phases
that is really difficult to say….. memory is fading….
the original crossing made the sound more bound to the speakers, now the sound is much more open and the stage is better.
The best answer is, that I do not miss the Stirling SE, these old chaps with the adjusted crossover keep me satisfied.
I do not need more to enjoy the music……… 🙂

find enclosed sim of Mayfair xover , but we need few things pronto :
- inductance of squawker
- Rdc of L3 (it's critical ) (ref to enclosed schm , you sent me previously)
while you are there ( presumably with driver out and xover semi-dismantled) , measure Rdc of other chokes and take few pictures
what I'm pretty sure is that best solution will be sort of K3808 xover ( for Super Red monitor ) , with higher Fo ; fact is that squawker is the same , needing "regular" Pepperpot 3K notch and also Newman Eq ........
no need for autoformer ( and missing 1.5db , as in case with 15" cone)
that later .....
or - find enclosed that too , just for fun ......
This is my crossover version. There are 3 versions of the crossover for 2528.
Two factory versions are without a notch filter. Because midd-bass goes above 3000Hz ....
A total of 2.5kg of copper per box in chokes😀

thank you !
tnx to Generg , I have book in my hands fro many moons now .... and I can\t recommend it enough - not only great and amusing but also extremely informative read
Book not made for any type of Brand Aficionados - it's made for ppl able to value story about work and efforts and knowledge
On the subject of Tannoys... Attached are frequency sweeps of the LF drivers from my Monitor Gold 15s, in open baffles with the microphone about a meter away, no crossover in place. I have two questions.
1) The dips between 200 and 300 hz seem odd. They don't appear in other frequency sweeps of the 15" golds that I have seen. What might account for them? Room interference? Bad mic calibration? Deterioration of the drivers?
2) The response of the two almost 50 year old drivers seem awfully similar. Does that indicate they're in good shape, or could they have aged/deteriorated in tandem? They look pristine. They were never used in a recording studio - my dad imported them to Canada back in the day. They sound great, though I'm still tweaking the xovers. I'm asking because I actually sourced recones for them from Lockwood. Now I'm wondering if I should sit pat and pass on the recones to someone else.

in addition to the calibrated microphone, it is necessary to calibrate the microphone with the software for the correct SPL
