frankly, struggling with all other projects still acting as Serbian Dust Collectors on shelves
too much ideas, started, too few of Mighty Moi, at least on my disposal 🙂

Choky,
This was the perfect opportunity to design something low power for tube rectification (i.e. the burning bush) 😀

Worth considering is a CLC supply. I used CLC, as I mentioned in post #487 (The Singing Bush). I ended up with 44mF - Hammond 195ZJ - 44mF per channel. A single thermistor slows the charge to the capacitors.
The cost was probably no more than CRCRC with 165mF per channel as 80V electrolytic capacitors are not inexpensive, and the choke takes up no more room than the capacitors.
My CLC supply is very quiet - no noise from my 103dB speakers.
Papa Pass suggested CRC of 47mF - 0R5 - 47mF:

Ben,
Did you mean 47kmF?
1mF = 1000uF (1 milli = 1000 micro)
By the way, I had a typo. The Hammond choke should be 159ZJ.

I still feel handicapped by growing up in the US where we refuse to use the metric system! It's just not second nature to us. And we were on track to convert in the early eighties. My senior year in high school the 440 yards I ran became the 400 meters and we got 2 liter soda bottles and that was all we could handle apparently! ...I must confess to still preferring the Fahrenheit scale. It just has more range.
already imagining Jeffrey saying ......... :
