That literally means that after 8mm excursion there is no longer any motive force on the coil. You cannot push it any farther. You can how ever heat the living hell out of it. This driver cannot push any more than 8mm 1 way. Simple physics.

I plan on making at least 8 of these cabs, and I'm just planning ahead on what amount of power I'll need for my amps!

One Crown XLS 2502 will do the job. You can do the protection thing with the DSP as well.

That's a lot of eggs in one basket, and only ~300 watts per driver when the amp is current limiting/
clipping.

Enough to smoke the 2226H if driven in to hard clip/limit, but a little light for peaks.
