I agree. Not back here as often as I'd like to be. I'll try harder going forward.
For clarification, he is from Barcelona in the original English version of the show, but if you happen to tune into the Catalonian version, he's a Mexican.
Que?
Typical anglo saxons.... he's actually from Madrid. The Catalan TV producer likely just wanted to avoid yet another Civil War.
.. I don't know that Monty Python will translate well into any other languages, not even American Standard Network English. It's too tied in with English humor.
Telling you what I just read. I was confused by your comment so I went looking. I will go grab it and paste it here.
EDIT:
Manuel is a well-meaning but dim, disorganised, and constantly confused Spanish waiter from Barcelona with a limited grasp of the English language and customs.
In the Catalan TV3 channel (based in Barcelona), Manuel's origin was changed to Mexico City and the character has a Mexican accent. The French version also gives his nationality as Mexican.

No need. I know the show quite well, hence my comment. Just because they said so, doesn't mean he is. Just listen to his accent.. completely wrong. You know that if he were a Catalan he would not be a waiter in England... that would be a step backwards... Catalans have evolved... they import their waiters from Latin America now., they all go to college.
I know, it's nuts. No one wants to get a job laying bricks of install plumbing anymore. They all want to go to college and become big shots.
Heck, last time we were in Barcelona, we walked into a restaurant in the Barceloneta... we were speaking English. So, they assigned to us a waitress who was spending time in Barcelona... she was from Iowa. Figures...
Oh well. Let me get my nose down....
Sorry about your doggie. I really didn't want another one, it's always too painful, it breaks your heart. But my daughter brought hers so I couldn't say no. Oh, yeah, the glucosamine does come with chondroitin. Costco.

Sorry Tony, I mistook your angle. You would know the accents, certainly not me.
Hey, give him a break, Andrew Sachs is from Germany.

Add the MSM and you have the one we buy for ourselves. Since Bingo was a big part of the family, he got to share too. 🙂the glucosamine does come with chondroitin. Costco.

Andrew Sachs died during 2016, aged 86.
He had been badly hounded by a couple of really nasty English 'entertainers'. This caused Andrew and his family much grief [For details use Google]

The whole band lacks of all musical skills, only uncool mooves.
The electric bass does not own the show. As it always should. Weak and fully out of the massive bass cool.
The singstress is not as fine as truckloads of diamonds and gigantic hills of pure gold.
Well?
Well. well. well.
I could be exactly 100% wrong🙂

Sorry for your loss. 16 years was a good run though.Bingo February 2007 - July 2023.
Forthcoming days are quite difficult for me. My son died 17 years ago on september 5.
My cat Cica, who is my son instead of my son will be 14 next spring, this will be 72 by human standards.
I can't imagine, what would be the worst, if I wouldn't live then, or if he.

I just hit the unenviable condition of 70 years old yesterday. I consider every day that I actually wake up as a gift.
I did a radio special last night celebrating 30 years of involvement with techno music - I very accidentally got techno as a 40th birthday present back in the summer of 1993. I spent the 4 hours of the show playing formative tracks from 1993 that got me hooked on the genre, as well from as the band that lead me on the search that made me encounter techno in the first place, due to encouragement and targeted suggestions from an employee at Mod Lang Records in Berkeley, who ended up starting his own label and record store out of Oakland in the late 90s. I shake my head in amazement that I'm still throwing down techno at 70 years of age...

@Cal Weldon, I'm very sorry about Bingo. I just today heard my late lovely dog shake her ears next to me more than a year after she passed. We miss our furry friends dearly.
@Gyuri, good luck with the coming difficult days. Don't feel alone and give Cica good head scratches.
@wrenchone, congrats, but don't leave us hangin'! What was the tracklist?

von Ah,
The playlist is viewable at kfjc.org from last night (10 PM) under the DJ name "goodwrench". There's lots of choice nuggets from 1993 nestled therein.
You can also download the set and listen to the whole ridiculous story about how I got hooked on techno in the first place.

KFJC is my favorite station for discovering new (to me) music. KKJZ is my favorite jazz station. The fact that they are college stations makes it appealing for the simple reason they don't fill the time with commercials. They're reminiscent of FM radio in the late '60s and early '70s before corporations ruined the format and turned it into an AM equivalent. Fortunately both are available through streaming!
@Gyuri: my thoughts are with you.
My daughter had a terrible accident in Zanzibar 4 years ago, her friend, another young girl, died, she barely survived with serious injuries... She is healed and happy again, but I can understand your loss 100 percent, I sympathize. I send you a hopefully empowering hug. The cat... my princess was 14 years old in March. Luckily she is healthy and I hope that she will make me happy for a long time to come.
