Let me introduce you to the largest sailing yacht in the world, 348' overall length and square rigged.
Is That a bad picture of one posted by BK a long time ago Or new one?
New one, put into the water in september, I made pictures when I visited the yard earlier this month.
The 1st yacht with this type of rigging was launched 10 years ago. Maltese Falcon, built by Perini Navi in Italy for Tom Perkins (RIP, july 2016)
This one is 60ft longer, with the square rigging designed by the same naval engineering company here in The Netherlands.

Is she a true sailor or a motor sailor? I think I already know the answer.
I am especially interested in the rigging. Unless you're able to make use of prevailing winds on round the world journeys, haven't you just created a white elephant? Don't get me wrong, she's a beauty, no question but...
I find this vessel a bit of a conundrum.

Imo the real clever bit is making it look small from a distance. like the 3 hatches on the side
Many a boat have 3 hatches but in this case, instead of say 18 inches they are measured in meters
Maybe picture whit standard Bic lighter would help convey the idea

Would she incorporate a rotating mast?
Yep.
The concept was originally designed for freighters, as a way of saving fuel.
Fun to see stuff I had classes on become reality in the long run.
...and then imagine foldable solar panels being deployed on these masts, when the sun is shining but there's no wind... 😉
all major welding done
length 2m , wide 1m , height up to 1m above min
moi cheapskate , now to search for massive 1m spindle , mounted vertically on front side (where front wheel vice is)
and 0.5m long add-on for back side , as driving on platform and fixie , to have 2.5m for choppachoppa

I wonder when the first sail sail canvases with solar cells will come. Those ships still consumes alot of diesel for household, autopilot, radar etc
