Foundations of attraction
Understanding the purpose of beauty or ugliness(there is such ugliness that it is attractive) *
The evolutionary algorithm keeps ahead of adversity by having a diverse population and the way it does this is fossa style. If the fossa mating algorithm was good at its game the pathogen may have caused a slight fever however if the algorithm had been unable to create a diverse population then the pathogen may wipe out most of the fossa or all of them.
The fossa offer a pure algorithm however

Despite having photographed the Abby for a book (also Dryburgh) I was totally unaware of Priorwood!
Rules of attraction: Just another possibly faulty and useless animal model for attraction, we should probably look at the state of the art highly intelligent and advanced human species models, the variables are many including social status, caste, gender, financial muscle, beliefs and a very complex data structure called love as a result accuracy of our model may be way off.
Now to the fossa!
During the mating season, we will see the prime fossa females climbing up the tree. Mostly prime fossa males will climb up the tree to 'dance' with them. More on this later.
Wave two will involve our older females climbing up the tree. Mostly our newest spun off the mill males will climb up the tree to 'dance' with them. More on this later.
Wave three will involve our newest spun off the mill females climbing up the tree. Mostly our older males will climb up the tree to 'dance' with them. More on this later.
Assuming +1 means attraction, 0 means neutral, -1 means repulsion. We are mapping all the points greater than or close to +1 to +1.We are mapping all the points close to 0 on both sides of the sign to 0.We are mapping all the points less than or close to -1 to -1. So we simply have attraction, neutral and repulsion. This is our activation function.
We want partners that are likely to produce partial solutions no worse than the current partners to 'dance' while all the rest repulse each other. But we accomodate for some bad matches here and there that may result in a previously undiscovered partial solution "sometimes the algorithm has the road map" it may also be that it doesnt so were looking for an algorithm that may stumble on the correct solution with or without a road map, where we can be certain that after a number of iterations one of the solutions is a correct solution, but how does it know when to stop? Puzzle for another day 🙂 We also accomodate one way attraction to safe guard against being caught up in a local minimum/maximum never getting any better. More on this later.
Lets assume that we have a set of possible incomplete partial solution, off by only one or two characters, to solve this possible partial solution may require pairing between parents and children or even between siblings, cousins might even throw off this* part of partial solution. The algorithm then flips the attract switch on the affected fossa. Where there would have been repulsion, we now have attraction. This attraction may be temporary for one or two mating seasons, the algorithm then inverts the switch as it has done what it can for this possibly longer match.
To facillitate cross pollination the algorithm randomly selects fossa to reject the current pack and go cross pollinate with other pack that will also provide a couple of members to cross pollinate with this pack. For better distributed processing.
Why are the new and older fossa mating? We are controlling our evolution rate in part of the population and ensuring that we dont have sudden extreme deviation from our working set. The older fossa are a possibly proven possible partial solution, while the new are possible wild cards, we reincorporate a small portion of the old back into the to be new meaning the current new will have its unique features that will complement with the new to be during upbringing. Think of it as a feedback loop. To enforce this the algorith has to flip the repulse switch on (for a couple of mating seasons) between our newest spun off the mill foosa between each other and make them attracted to the older fossa. The algorith has also has to flip the repulse switch on between our older foosa between each other and make them attracted to the our newest spun off the mill fossa as by now they might not be able to provide us with a better solution amongst themselves than they already have done.
Fossa that are too old to climb the tree possibly still get front row seats. They are here for the electro chemical forces released during the fossa festival. This energy serves to heal and rejuvenate the fossa.
Lets roughly assume a fossa has six pups, lets also assume six potential fathers. This is where more rules are added. For purposes of speed and fair share it is appropriate for the male to come down the tree once they have auditioned, so that they next male can come dance without further delay. As a result once a male auditions, the algorithm immediately switches on their repulsed switch and also places a time out on them to give other males who havent had even a first chance to do so at the same time we heighten the female for more action. The female will only step down that tree once she is satiated 6 males later. Due to this the female is provided with some level of remote control that she can use once a connection is establishd between her and a compatible male up that tree. More on this later.
Lets assume on the off chance the male above was not successful in loading the female, remember this is still a possibly good match, so we see that after his timeout he climbs on trees with similar females as the one above during this mating season or he may totally deviate. What we end up is with distributed possibly good solutions.
As the curtain falls on this season, the seniors relax under firefly lights, some chilling out with some fermented juice, other inhale some herbs while other are content to stare into the night sky as they flash back to their glory days. As the fossa clear off from the festival there is an air of achievement, satisfaction and pride. Most of the fossa are thankful for having freely participated in a pillar of their existence.

Hence the expression, 'out of your tree'!Originally Posted by OnAudio >

They certainly think so in Thailand
