My favorite beer to image is a Belgian ale "La fin du monde" IIRC it has >10% alcohol and could live up to its name...
Sorry to correct you about it but 'La fin du monde' is not Belgian but Canadian ( Unibroue brewery). When it came out it was one of the strongest 'blonde' in the world at 12* alcool iirc, some Belgian could have been involved in its birth though ( some of their beers offers was from a belgian brewer recipe (Gino Vantiehgem).
Unibroue have interesting links to audio: Robert Charlebois ( famous Quebec's singer) decided to have a partnership with them and bought 20% of the brewery and in 2016, Dave Mustaine presented his endorsed 'a tout le monde ale' from them.
Have you ever tested a 'Kwak' or 'Delirium Tremens'? Both very nice belgian beer ( i've got fond memory of them).
All this and... i don't drink alcool -anymore- ( but spend a looot of time in pubs and bars long time ago and still have barmen around me -one specialised in beers obviously!).

Of uttermost importance, of course!
We have to be accurate. 😉
I'm glad your towers are back in town. You did a great job on finish.
The passive shading is now implemented?

Yes, its in there. It will take me a while to really get to the bottom of the differences. The sims did teach me a thing or two though. Or at least confirm a couple of things. We'll see if it brings any improvement. So many things have changed though. A raise in ceiling height, better isolation from outside noise, better damping panel placement... its totally different, even though it doesn't show that easy.
Most changes I'd recon are a plus, except for the raised ceiling. But I did get rid of that aweful metal ceiling. On loud sweeps it would add its own rattle noises. Not pretty 🙂.

You already talked about the raised ceiling as a minus and i must admit i didn't understood why it could be a minus until it occured to me your loudspeakers are... line array!

Sometimes i should open my eyes... well, as you implemented shading i wonder if it will not be a plus in the end as for the high mid/ high you will still have a line but it may behave a bit as a point source ( and in this case the raised ceiling is a plus).
It could help to mitigate the 'wings' you have in vertical directivity (around 5k iirc).
With the disapearing of the rattling it would be a benefit anyway.
True, overall, according to the sim, the "spray" to floor and ceiling is a bit less for the shaded array. We will see (and I will hear) it soon enough 😉.
Slow progress, right? Funny how life tends to get in the way...
Yes... often times it does.
Hope all is well?
First sound:
First sound after overhaul - YouTube
I just connected everything and pushed play, so it really doesn't sound all that well as the correction was made for the prior rendition (without filters). It also clipped the phone mic, no wonder 😀.
One subwoofer acted up, so this is with arrays + one sub.
Hope to fix the sub some time soon so I can continue with measurements and create the (proper) DSP correction.

Cool Wesayso, good to see the system up and running again, and hope you get things optimized soon.
Thanks guys, hope to have it running full swing soon!
So many ideas of things to try, but first giving the filtered array a proper chance to see if it is indeed a step forward. First impression isn't bad. The re-organizing of some room elements seems to have the desired results. I can't judge it yet, but I'm quite positive this will work out fine!

Nice weather around these parts this weekend. Not that I need it now, to finish anything audio related. But it does mean other priorities will rob me of some audio play time. Jobs around the house to be more specific. Does it ever end? All I need is a couple of days, preferably having the house all to myself which simply doesn't happen all that often in this "new world".
I will get there... the biggest question is when...

The chores around the house were finished a bit sooner than expected, so I did have a bit of free time.
While still moving at a snail pace, I managed to fix the problem with the subwoofer. So all channels are firing again, ready to be measured. Now hoping for some time alone in the house and I'll be ready to go!

Quite a few pages ago I posted about Banana plugs...
It turns out that the locking mechanism of these wasn't that robust. I've searched for other variants, like the Parts Express locking types, they all had one thing in common: fine threads on a small diameter. So I stayed clear from those too.
I ended up sourcing yet another type that I use right now:
These have the threads on a bigger diameter area of the locking pin. But did not have a plastic outer shell to protect the body. I used 'see trough' shrink wrap to cover the part of the body that holds the wire.
I used spades to hook up the impedance correction. Sorry, didn't take a clear picture of those yet... I might get a few measurements in today, but don't hold your breath just yet (lol).
