It might not perform as well considering Hfe and early effect, and the thermal coupling isn't a significant improvement.
It would probably still sound good, although there is the risk of oscillation when using very different transistors.

Thanks very much!It might not perform as well considering Hfe and early effect, and the thermal coupling isn't a significant improvement.

May I ask a favor.... I intend to use the single-ended version of the Kuartlotron as an input buffer for a hybrid amp.
You posted such a version waaaay back on this thread.
Here is my input, should have 19v on upper rail.
As near as I can tell, Iq should be about 10mA, but I'm not sure.
Would you care to take a look, see if there are any glaring errors?
Or suggestions for improvement?
Thanks in advance.
Sheldon

Report my build. I use pcb by Project16. Q1, q3 are bc559 veb=0.706v. Q2 and q4 are bc549 vbe=0.722v.
According to formula, r1=r2=70e, I use 68e for r1 (r13 in pcb) and r2.
In this pcb R9 is set by trim pot+r12. R12 is fixed at 2700k and trim pot is short.
c3 18pf
Offset is below 2-4mv for both channels, no need to adjust trim pot for r9.

Keantoken, I can’t PM because I’m a n00b here, but is there PCB available for these still?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Just tried to access the Kuartlotron website and get 'invalid request' from the links ( http://fidelityforce.com/keantoken/content/Kuartlotron.php) posted in this thread. A quick Google gives me http://www.fidelityforce.com/keantoken/content/Kuartlotron.php that works.
Not sure of the why or wherefore of it, just thought I'd mention it.

I do still have PCBs even though the site is down. To PM me, click my name and go to "start conversation".
@keantoken I built the Kuartlotron and like it very much. Is it possible to use it as an I/V for DAC by putting the grey area of OPA861 IV schematic attached in front of the Kuartlotron? Any modification needed?
