Looks nice...How does it sound in the highs?
For more precise informations better ask Mr Pass or Wrenchone.
This speakers was chosen to match the new Papa sit amplifier.
Personaly i have good apreciation of open baffles with full range alnico.
I use two full range alnico Philips 30 cm without filters
and minimalistic class A amp its sound fantastic without tweeters,
but if Your taste is tweeters enchanced maybe like on this video

Philips AD12202 M8 - YouTube

Philips 9710M/01 (alnico) - YouTube

Cheers

I see...Thanks...
After 12inch nirvana driver I went to a 4inch jordan watts whit kef passive membrane and the results are shocking. If you like huge orchestral music this is so evident...The punch and timing are exceptional good, bass tight and precise. If there is an huge dynamic outbreak of energie you fill it...Some would call this fundament.
So I think the Pass speakers should be interesting, the sub is a 12ich driver and the full range a lowther...Here you have a very good sounding alternative from Sonido...also alnico...

Nice day to you tooo...

I am just wondering is there a hybrid SIT brother out there somewhere?...:)
I hope not!!!:D

Update on my SIT: The amp has played a couple 100h, works stable and
sounds incredible!

Have fun!

Recent auction on LS-33 went for a little less then 500USD,
they are worth every nickel!:eek::sax:

From the last revision, I installed a grid stopper in front of 6e5p and changed the PSU for the tube a little bit.
Now I am very pleased and dont want to change anything more.
Thou I have a few 6e6p-dry tubes whit gold pins, I dont think they could make a very big difference anyway...

Update...
I will try the Pass floating Bias on my hybrids....
I changed the main loaudspeakers to infinity quantum 5... Madness some will say!
The ACR are around 90dB and the infinity monsters, I dont know...
But the sound is even better. Its evident that 10W cant drive 250W speakers to nirvana,
but at least there is the whole spectrum present. I get very deep bass from the infinitys,
the mids and highs are wonderful like on a good tube SET...I am very pleased whit the results.....:)
Let the hybrid SIT do some real work!

Hello Bigun,

you can find the schema in L simple amp thread,
it means that its derived from the main supply and is floating whit it and not regulated.
But I gave up on this idea at this time,
I will try a separate supply whit a new transformer.
I thought of something like CLCLC unregulated.

My project is going to revision 3.
Here is the plan:
-lowering the input sensitivity of gain stage:
the 4p1l tube look very promising. In triode connection this is
a very nice DHT tube, I will load it whit CCS and take the MU out.
-fixed unregulated bias for the SIT
I will do some testing what sounds good here,
if someone has a suggestion please let me know,
a CLC or CLCLC or elese....??

The revision 3 will be very interesting.
The main dilema remains, use fixed or auto bias for the SIT.
I realized that my SIT has 100uA of grid leakage. The 22K grid resistor
makes 2,2V bias more...) But the problem is I want to use only 600R input
impedance in revison 3. I assume the source resistor will still drop 12,5V but
the bias current will go up, to 1A.
So there are only two options, replace the source resistor to new value or
make a fixed bias which will deliver 14-15V bias for 0.7A current.
As you have noted, the low input impedance needs a bigger input DC blocking capacitor,
around 47uF or bigger, this is one problem using fixed bias. But on the other hand I could eliminate the source resistor and bypass caps which can be an advantage.

For fixed bias I want to use a little unregulated CRC supply and set the voltage via voltage divider. But I never used fixed, so maybe I didnt acount for some minor situations, maybe someone can help here...or what do you think in this particular
situation would be best solution for my SIT?

I want to stay whit the MU follower and also the 6e5p will remain in its position,
4p1l, is too microphonic, tin sounding ccs loaded in comparison to 6e5p.
I have decided to use a step down output transformer to reduce gain a little bit.
The gate leakage will be very low whit 600R load this is not the problem, the big DC blocking cap in comination whit all the variables is that is bothering me...

I will need to test it...

You mean 4P1L is thin sounding? You need to put at least 20mA through it, and 25mA is good. If you go under 15mA it will sound very thin. For microphonics it's good to lower the filament voltage say to 1.9v in parallel and needs to be mounted very solidly - mass is your friend. It sounds best in filament bias with a Rod Coleman board and a really good filament supply e.g. choke input. And I like it best with an interstage e.g. LL1660/25mA

Andy

Thank you for your suggestion. I have bought 30pcs of 4p1l. Will see, maybe in future I will change the 6e5p. But now it works great in this position.
I have finished the new revision and it works and sound great.
But I doubt that anyone will make similar attend attempt like me. If someone is
interested I can post the new schematic.
