Compensation?

"Copyright" means that NOBODY has the right to copy certain material, in paper or electronic form, without the permission of the copyright holder.
Now, to copy (or scan, which is the same) those service manuals and selling the copies is illegal, unless the one who made the copies received explicitely the permission to do so from Philips.
I find it quite absurd to talk about "compensation" for an act which is, at least in principle, illegal.
It takes lots of time to make those copies, true. And it is also probably true that Philips does not care much about those copies of service manuals for long discontinued appliances. Nevertheless, it doesn' t make any sense to talk about "compensation" for the work involved in making those copies, unless Remco can prove he received the written permission from Philips to copy and sell those manuals.

I have made the Philips service manuals available only by request, and they are no longer directly available to the general public.
This way I am the only responsable for their distribution and the Copyright issue matter.

How can diyaudio be held responsable for my actions? The links are not to files or any copyrighted material.
I'm not saying I have the rights on Philips stuf, I'm taking full responsability for what I post in my site.

I would be much more worried about a member making money with copyrighted material.
