Well Andrea,

Not to disappoint you, but the dielectrics are PVC. But you are correct, the geometry works well. For Blacksheeps Kables Mars series we will keep with Neutriks. For future models we will definitely use better ones. Jase has given me some excellent references on where to get some better wire as well.

Have to go for now. 5 year old daughter wants to go play in the snow. Brrrr.....

I see - it did look like PVC in the former pics, actually. Alright...also Audioquest used to make entry level cables with (the in their own words music-friendly) PVC dielectric.

It's one more reason to be curious about their sound quality..

Forgot to mention that I had a pair of 50 cm long Audioquest Copperhead cables, incidentally terminated with the same Neutrik plugs as the Mars. The Copperhead had the PVC dielectric, too.

I liked 'em... sound was precise and without the slightest boominess. It was a satisfactory ebay purchase 🙂

BTW I think it was wise of that guy to choose a solid, sonically reliable cable like the Copperhead to hand terminate and sell on ebay.

Thanks for all the feedback. Blacksheep Kable has received great advice, ideas, and most of all support from the DIYaudio members community.

As soon as I get back to Bangkok, we're going to tinker around with some new wires Jase suggested. Our first step will probably be getting away from PVC dielectric. We'll stick with the Neutriks for now until we find another that works for us.

Andrea, I've been threatening Thailand and they swear on their lives that your cables will be there soon! I will spare them...for now...

Definitely. I think stranded can sound grainier, and at the same time more cozy... but more coherent from top to bottom. On the other hand, solid core copper tends to be more smooth and precise in transient attack, but often it's also somewhat incoherent, and sometimes shows a slightly too sparkly treble or a slightly bloomy bass. Having heard Monster's and Audioquest's solid copper, I definitely prefer Audioquest's (especially the latest & greatest "PSC").

Good morning!

Looks like (not certain) that I will be heading back to Bangkok on the 25th of this month. About a week earlier than my ticket says. Which is a good thing becuase I can start testing some new wire.

We have sold one of the Blacksheep Kable Mars demos! So this means that markmelheim out in California will be getting the next set of demo sometime next week.

If you are just joining this thread, Blacksheep Kable has 4 sets of it's Mars RCA interconnect cables out in the US with DIY audio members. Looking to get feedback on the sound. The finishing touches are already in progress.

Blacksheep is now looking for 4 more people in the US to test the cables. No pressure on the members who are already testing them. You have plenty of time. Just trying to stay orginized.

Frank

Hi R Sykes,

When I return to Bangkok I will be starting the European & Asian Free Blacksheep Kable demo. I do believe that you are the 4th person on my list. So you will be one of the first testers in Europe. I appreciate your interest and I will keep you up to date in the thread.

Still need testers in the US!

Frank

The wire selection from navships is excellent and the costs are reasonable as well! Just going over cost structure. Have to take in consideration the cost of shipping to Bangkok. Will definately bring lots of samples back with me. Looking to improve on our speaker cables as well.
