Those little jigs work well for flounder if you ever find yourself on the salt. I love flounder/sole

We generally have a couple long term power outages during storm season. Unless you have a backup generator, you could lose your frozen food. What's with you Northwesterners?
Can't you just buy another fridge for the garage?
I told my sister and BiL that I'd bring one from Home Depot ( just down the highway ) if I could borrow their truck, I mean a FREE fridge, but they refused. What's 600 bucks between family? A three car garage no less! Lots of room. I even offered to stash it with beer and wine.
I mean, it's hard when we go buy stuff for our trip back and keep it in their fridge overnight. They freak out!
No Kim Chee. 😉
When my mom was alive, it was always the thing to call her from the Costco in Gig Harbor (We'd either we driving up from SoCal or around from SeaTac).
"Mom, we're at Costco, we'll be home in half an hour, what do you need? "
Always to hear the immortal words
"TOOOONY! I went shopping, we got food"
Then, we'd show up with a case of wine, ten pounds of frozen chicken, lots of cheese, cold cuts, toilet paper, steaks, pizza, etc...
BTW- That Walmart at Poulsbo is actually nice. The only one I bother to frequent. I'm kept out of Costco but they never mentioned Walmart.
HeHe... 😳😳😳😉😉
You clearly have a different approach and recipe than my classic(s).I’ve been cooking up chili again
Can you share a recipe and method?
I'm always searching for new chili recipes.
Cheers.

Yes.... my sister and BiL have a 15KwH propane generator.
I'm clearly the outlier. I did talk to the boss about vaccum bags and was given a resounding 'no'.Our storage containers are all for the refrigerator. Anything being packaged for the freezer goes in vacuum bags.
I am happy that I can not only make Ice cream again, but several flavours as have space. Cheated and did a kulfi style (condensed milk) this time as had a few near failures on custard over the winter as still not fully calibrated to the induction hob we now have. Will do a proper job soon.
Oh Tony.Yes.... my sister and BiL have a 15KwH propane generator.
My sister and BiL live in a 5 acre lot in the woods. Everybody there has to have a back up generator because they will often lose power for a day or more during the winter storms in the PNW.
They also got a big propane tank, a septic system and their own well. Plus LOTS of trees and firewood.
It's know as living off grid if they have to. It's very common where they live, in fact, it's a necessity.
Not only that, their neighbors have chickens... they never experienced the American Great Egg Shortage of 2024.
I think their only real need for a connection is their wired Internet, but we've all been discussing getting Starlink.

Frayed knot. Knee troubles at the moment. I am however able to do more prep work.@Cal Weldon did you get out on the river yesterday?
Over the years saltwater was all I did. This small freshwater stuff is a whole new thing. What you catch, we used to use for bait. I might go see what I can get around the pilings one day and will be happy to bring it to this table.if you ever find yourself on the salt. I love flounder/sole
You missed my highlighting of the quote.
I'm afraid so.
A 15Kw generator.
How are you making ice cream? We got one of them freezer jobbies where you freeze the tub then put it into the base that contains the motor, add the paddle and throw in the premixed cream, sugar and what not and turn it on and on and on.
Note: don't forget to put the paddle early on... it helps to hold off on the scotch before you get the whole thing running. One happy evening, when I decided that single malts were called for, I made the fundamental error of assembling the concoction backwards.... turns out the paddle won't fit once you've thrown the cream into the frozen tub. It freezes around the walls and blocks the paddle from getting in.
My bad.
The scotch was fine though. I'm pretty sure I had more. I forget.
Noticed that keeping the ice cream overnight in the freezer seems to settle it... but eventually we always end up with a block of frozen cream, no matter how long we ran the mixing. There must be a trick?
We've thought about making sherbet...

Take good care of that knee.
You're way too young to have such issues.
Being young is what caused the issues. Unlike gliding on skates in ice hockey, ball hockey and tennis can be a little hard on them. You're way too young to have such issues.
Both have been operated on and they are never perfect again. Now, 35 years later, they feel old. That's why I have so much time for kitchen duty.
The secret to a healthy middle age is clearly being rubbish at sport as a kid! and being a scaredy cat so not falling more than 10ft out of trees
@tonyEE yes that's the sort I have. I'd rather have an integrated freezer unit, but space and money preclude that.
