Made a nice batch of braised lamb's tongue for lunch, our farm does not do naughty bits or I would have thrown them in too. Instead of tomato/paste I tried roasted and peeled red peppers pureed with a wand mixer with some garlic and lemon, quite successful.
For them yes, Hawaiian means a canned ham with canned pineapple slices, and pineapple upside down cake.Is that considered normal?😱

At my place in Florida people actually bring buckets of KFC to pot luck suppers.
That seems special if their names are Harlan and Claudia.

I thought it was Harland?

You are right. So I take it they were the couple! 🙂

A personal fave, we had two offspring from a Westminster winner the best friends anyone could have, I miss them dearly.

I count pineapple upside down cake in my top 5 comfort foods, but only with custard. Also handy when trying to shovel enough calories into teenagers to keep them conscious for more than an hour at a time 😀
Canned ham is no longer considered a food stuff in UK though. It's a bad memory. In my case of my grandmother who always served it when we went for tea. But she lived through two wars.

Very "Wisconsonian". At least in Cleveland we used a Krakus canned ham.

Lots of Packer fans here.
Did the finale clean-up of my old flat and left the keys to the owner. After a month of carrying heavy boxes (tubes are much heavier than class-D) my body is sore and it will take a week before I can sort out all my stuff and sad to say, many of my started projects will get a price tag.
Well, to celebrate the end of our old life in the 2-bedroom flat and beginning of the a new chapter in a 1-bedroom flat, what is better that to celebrate with a fantastic smorgas-cake: layers of white bread with yummy mayonnaise and caviar filling and shrimps and smoked salmon on top. A small bottle of Italien white wine is prefect.
The only dirt in the cup is that the livingroom is too small for my BIG speakers. But my old 10 litres TangBand speakers sound pretty OK. (Seen in the background)

The canned hams we had as kids were very good.
( I assume from U.S. pigs )
The ones I've bought since have a completely
different texture. IIRC the source is Scandanavian
with a not so tasty texture.

The canned hams in Ohio were either Danish or Polish, at least in the northeast corner of the state -- Honey-Baked came in sometime in the 1980's and pushed them off the shelf.

That looks really good, very clever and finally a good use for caviar. 🙂
You mix the caviar with mayonnaise (and maybe some sour cream/smetana) add some dill and it's perfect.
That blend is perfect for baked salmon as well.

Besides enjoying it I have found a way to be helpful with caviar. When I am in a supermarket and find an unattended shopping cart stategically place to manage to block an entire isle, I assume the owner is looking for the caviar section. So I help them out by adding a jar or two to the offending cart.
The caviar world has become fairly shady, I assume you folks are not talking about $3000/lb genuine wild Caspian sturgeon roe? Has anyone here had the nerve to try the slug egg "caviar".
