Call me a little behind the times but...

There are some good features on the range.

The control lockout feature allows you to clean the cockpit without turning the ovens on and there's even a little lock light so you only spend 5 minutes trying to turn your stove on before you notice.

The door lock itself is handy. When you put someone in the oven and you don't want them squirming around to get out, you just lock the door.

Each element has 24 settings, so you can burn yourself many different ways.

Each oven has 3 racks so you can cook enough pizzas at one time to feed all your friends and your enemies for that matter. Handy that there are two ovens so you can separate the poisoned pizzas from the good ones. Your friends appreciate that.

The cockpit has enough lights and things that change throughout the cooking that not only don't you know what's actually happening, it's kind of like an arcade game or for us older folks, it's as entertaining as a fireplace.

:bawling: Turns out the circuit the hood fan used is too full to run the OTR microwave so I have to run a new line to it's own breaker. Haven't even done it yet and I have fiberglass disease.

The Mrs. is kinda grumpy about her kitchen right now and she doesn't yet know I have to run a water line for the fridge or it just won't give us those much loved ice cubes.

Boy this is turning out to be fun. Think I'll grab a big glass of rum and take the dog for a walk. 🙂

If that's a Kenmore Elite, I hope you bought the extended warranty
Interesting as Consumer reports gives them a top rating. Yes Jeff, it's five years and at the end, if you haven't claimed on the warranty, they return it to you in the way of a 50% store credit, Meaning the $900 warranty is credited fully as long as you spend $1800 total. Not too worry as I can always find a way to spend $1800 as long as the Mrs is not with me.
That looks like a $3000+ range
call me old fashioned, but I like knobs 😉
I like knobs too. These button things are really screwing me up after a Margarita or two.

Well, there's lot's to like, and the new one's may be even better, but who's to know what will happen to them over the long haul. To be fair, ours did get a lot of use, especially the oven, with my wife baking so much. It's probably seen more like 10-15 years of typical service.

That's great!

What age range do they hold ?

The Irish mutt overhere only drinks water from the fridge, doesn't touch anything from the regular tap, can you f believe it.
The line filter has to be exchanged every month, due to that lush.

(alternative is that I could be dying from lead poisoning and various other heavy metals by the next month or so)

went from $3799 to $1699

And they are still making money. It's just like high end audio, the extra $2100 wasn't for anything tangible, but for the "perceived value" by the people to whom it was marketed.

I like the double oven concept - the drawers under normal ranges are where seldom used kitchen gadgets go to die.

I used to live in a small apartment complex that catered especially to international grad students because it was very no-frills. There wasn't much storage, and staff used to frequently find books stored in the (1950's gas) oven broiler drawers, just inches from the burners / pilot light. I don't think the ovens were used, but perhaps they should have written a sort of manual explaining what the appliances were, for those from other cultures where these things are different.
