I was asked what enclosure we have chosen for the Beta test.
This is available to everyone :
Enclosure RE2109H 211x90x257 - Boards | Kits | Components | Modules | Tools
This is essentially the same, but not everyone can buy from TB.
2109 Á½²àÉ¢ÈÈ È«ÂÁ»úÏä-ÌÔ±¦Íø
We have yet to find out how good the quality is, for those prices.
One may also consider :
Galaxy Maggiorato GX288 230 x 280 mm pannello frontale 10mm ARGENTO
For the latter, I have no idea how hot the side panels will get when used as heat sinks.
Do bear in mind you have about 14W to dissipate per channel.
Of course you are always welcome to design your own. 🙂

Side panels of a Galaxy Maggiorato are about 10mm thickness, so not a lot.
And with ribs in the "wrong" direction at 14W it will get plenty warm... my educated guess.

Yes, difficult to find suitable enclosures ....
How about this one, though a bit costly ?

You need a taller one, the 2109 and not 2107.
2109DIY Aluminum enclosure/case/headphone amplifier chassis/PSU BOX 211*90*257mm | eBay
Else not enough height for the DAO & HAGS PCBs.

There you go...solution is next door.🙂
very nice....but price ?
No idea.
A bit too small as well at 23x23cm ....
For that size there are many fan-less PC cases to choose from.
In any case the Beta test will stick to the 2109 case.
So still time to look around between now and phase 1.

The air is getting thin when it comes to nice (and affordable) cases...
I found those ones --> Kühlkörper Gehäuse mit 10mm Frontplatte, Tiefe 300mm (similar to the 2109)
or this one 19-Zoll-Aluminium-Gehäuse THEL-Gehäuse (GHX 31-26-10) but looks too expensive for what it offers.

if you dont mind something something cheap and cheerful
then take a look at this for less than 30 bucks ...

Better price at TB (post #162, 2nd link).
Yours is also too low (2107 instead of 2109).

Stixx,
Those are IMHO way too big / wide (19", or about 480mm).
The 2109 is only 21cm wide.
Let's try the 2109 first.

correct, my bad.
I shall think of ways to make a given case more attractive 😛
Today I had the chance to listen to a Hifiman HE-500 and a Sennheiser HD-800 with the DAO.
It was no real surprise that the DAO TCS had no problems at all driving both, real loud.
So I am satisfied that there is sufficient headroom for both voltage and current.
As soon as we have a chance to try the other refinements, we'll let you know.
🙂

Knowing very well the build and sound quality of the EUVL F5X build, I will personally opt for a permanent high quality home (chassis) for the DAO, rather than a: "cheap and cheerful" allocation. I agree that the "inside" is where the money is best spend, but personally also the "looks" counts.
Sounds great: after all, that is what we are here for!
Measures great: can't help it - I'm a scientist!
Looks great: I live in Italy where looks (rightfully, IMO) counts!
Together this creates Zen (or Xen🙂)!
To bad Mark is to busy (but very happy to hear that he's business is doing well!) to make a custom chassis for us. Anyway it seems that a number of options are commercially available.
Cheers,
Nic
