Would like the spread sheet
Hi Petter, I have sent a PM with my email. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Jeff
For those intreseted in building these multicellular horns, send me your e-mail in
a pm and I will sen you a spreadsheet. Note that this is made for a 2" driver. If
you are using a 1,4" you simpley extrapolate the throat.

Has anybody heard back from Petter regarding the spreadsheet he said he'd share with us? I would like to have a go at making these but need the specs for the curvature of the cells etc.

I have not. Does anybody else on this thread have any of the data we have requested? I haven't heard from him and I have sent several messages. I hope he is OK.
Jeff
Yes! Thank you very much.I can contact him through our "local forum" to let him know about your requests.
Jeff

I'm back🙂
Sorry it took so long. I have sent the spreadsheet to those who sent me their
e-mail by pm. The others has to respond to the pm I sent them.
Good luck everyone, hope to see some good looking pictures soon...🙂

Wow Petter!! Once a gain stopping by to take a look at these and thinking your workmanship has to be right up there with some of the best ever here at DIY!!! You make it look easy, and the rings to use as clamps are one of those simple ideas that just seem absolutely genius.. Like a great guitar player you make it look easy and simple when in fact it's very complex and challenging.. Excellent job dude!!! 🙂
Edit: It would be awesome if there was a section here at DIY for the best of the best sort of thing.. Where some of the most stellar and complex builds here could have a showcase.. Somewhere to show off members accomplishments that are just that much more than a cut above, it could be a speaker, amp, stand, turntable etc etc.. The Rolls Royce of DIY !!

Welcome🙂
And thanks for the nice words.
In post 2, a terrible mistake was done when making the mold/bearing figure.
It shall look like this:
This will be understood when reading the spreadsheet.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Dear Petter,
I just found your nice horns today.
Great work, really great.
It is not difficult to make the horn, but much much work.
I also will send you a PM for the spreadsheet.
I like to build this horn, too.
Thanks Petter

Dear Petter,
thank you so much.
And that was very fast, too.
I can open the file.
I will post pictures, if I have build these horns.
I like BMS drivers, the BMS 4550 is a 1" driver.
Can you help me with more details how to connect the drivers to the Multi Cell Horns?
Last time I use a round horn with 2" but BMS 4550 is 1".
I use a adaptor from Beyma.
No problems with that.
Sounds also good.

Since the horn sounds sounds the best between 4-500 Hz to 3000 Hz I would not recommend the use of a 1" driver. A 1,4" or 2" with sufficient volume in the rear chamber like the JBL 4" voice coil drivers or Altec 288 or similar will work well.
Thanks Petter,
for your technical advice.
So, I am looking for a 2" driver.
What is the frequenz bandwith of the multicell?
500 Hz to 3 Khz or can I go even higher like 10 Khz??
My wood horn goes from 800 Hz to 20 Khz with the BMS 4550.
Any comment??

Above 4000 Hz, each cell starts to beam, so one want to filter it slightly below. I have tried to use it to 6 kHz but it sounded coloured and harsh. For pure midrange use, I have not heard any better yet.
Thanks again Petter,
Okay, now I understand the system.
So, I can use a midrange compression driver.
There is a good 2" BMS 4591 midrange driver - 200 Hz to 9 Khz.
Use best arround 400 Hz to 5 Khz.
With a crossover I can go 400 Hz to 3 Khz.
Than add horn tweeter like you.
I also have a very similar horn tweeter like you.
Made by a friend.
Also uses a BMS 4524 driver.
I like BMS because, it sound really great, for much less money than the "big boys".

Hello Petter,
is it possible, that you can help me with the spreadsheet for a "single" cell horn?
I have long time the idea, to build a horn like the Klangfilm horn.
As sample see the horn at my Klangfilm KLL 430 speaker.
The horn in the front is arround 400 mm x 400 mm.
I hope you find some time.
