The Boominator - another stab at the ultimate party machine

Bluearan does in fact stock hp10w (well, once they clear customs that is): https://www.bluearan.com/index.php?id=PAUIMFHP10WX&browsemode=manufacturer

For 4 channels you could also get 2 shiznits and have one each for left and right. The DSP integrated in the amp will have such a set-up as one of the standard settings. Complete with filters.

Brilliant, they have been listening because when I asked them in February this year you saw the response that I got about "suitable alternatives" blue Aran told me that they would get them for me if I ordered 100 units..... £40 each is good...... Come on UK builders, what's stopping you...... Boominator meet up at next summers Pridstock Festival free ticket for everyone with a boominator......

Hi, thanks saturnus for the idea and all the answears. Ive just gotten my boominator pakke from canopysound for my first build and everything looks great! Although I have a couple of questions, I would be greatful if they could get answeared.

I've used someones diagram and made it my own, thanks...

1. Is all the diagram ok? Im kinda unsurtain about the on/off switches. :/

2. the cigar outlet is for charging my phone and charging the batteries with this charger: http://www.biltema.se/sv/Bil---MC/El/Batteriverktyg-och-tillbehor/Batteriladdare-12-V-2-A-37743/ will bouth of the batteries be charging with these connections?

3. I have to do 3 connections to every battery pole, what do I use to do this?

4. Where can I buy recessed dish and cigar outlet in sweden? would love to not have to order.

5. I have a Indeed Wifi amp (http://canopysound.dk/da/indeed-ta2020) and it has no screwholes, will it be enough to just glue+acrylfog?

Thanks! 😀

You should make sure that the cigarette-outlet is also fused. Just connect it after the fuse (I drew this on your diagram and reuploaded it).

2. the cigar outlet is for charging my phone and charging the batteries with this charger: http://www.biltema.se/sv/Bil---MC/El/Batteriverktyg-och-tillbehor/Batteriladdare-12-V-2-A-37743/ will bouth of the batteries be charging with these connections?
This charger seems OK. It will however come with clamps, and I reckon that you want a "cigarette"-plug? Cut off the clamps and connect this.

3. I have to do 3 connections to every battery pole, what do I use to do this?
Simply wind the cables together and stuff them in a cable shoe. If you don't want or can't stuff three cables in the shoe at the negative pole, simply run the cigarette-cable to one battery, and the amp-cable to the other. Remember however to parallel the batteries.

4. Where can I buy recessed dish and cigar outlet in sweden? would love to not have to order.
Biltema supplies, once again...

5. I have a Indeed Wifi amp (http://canopysound.dk/da/indeed-ta2020) and it has no screwholes, will it be enough to just glue+acrylfog?
I reckon glue would be sufficient. There are likely some rubber feet underneath this. Just peel them off and route a perfect fit for the body of the amp and just slide it in, and then recess the front.

Thanks! 😀
No problem.

Okey thanks Viktor. Now my diagram looks like this. I still have some questions though:

1,5. How do I devide the cable after the sikring?

2. the cigar outlet is for charging my phone and charging the batteries with this charger: http://www.biltema.se/sv/Bil---MC/El/Batteriverktyg-och-tillbehor/Batteriladdare-12-V-2-A-37743/ will it work? will bouth of the batteries be charging with these connections?

3. I have to do 3 connections to the minus pole, what do I use to do this?

4. I have a Indeed Wifi amp (http://canopysound.dk/da/indeed-ta2020) and it has no screwholes, will it be enough to just glue+acrylfog?

Are these piezos the same as the MPT-001? All these piezos look completely the same, and I suspect that they are only being rebranded.

That would more or less be a correct assumption. It's more a matter of how much you trust each suppliers QC requirements. The Monacor in the MPT001 is known to deliver reasonably identical drivers that aren't faulty. The same cannot be said for many other suppliers.

I know a friend of mine once ordered 10 replica drivers, 9 was faulty in one way or another. After sending those back and getting another delivery, 5 of those were faulty. Sent those back, and of the next 5, 3 worked which meant he had the 8 he needed so he gave up on the remaining 2.

So, you can order 10, check and measure them and use the 4 that are the best, and works.

This may be the wrong thread, but what do you measure when testing tweeters?

It is actually pretty easy to do even with just a standard multimeter.

You can measure capacitance and impedance, not all multimeters will have the option for capacitance though but that's not too important.

First number them all. Find or make a 5khz sinus test tone.

1) Now measure capacitance of all them and note it down, skip if you can't measure capacitance
2) Measure impedance at 5khz and note it down, this is right at the resonance point of the driver so if capacitance varies, impedance will vary too.
3) While measuring impedance, make a note if it's a clear tone. You have to do this at fairly high and almost annoying volumes.

That's basically it. You can naturally if you have the equipment do a full measurement. You can also screw the back off and pop out the cone to check if the piezo element is centered on the cone but really the above will sort out the good from the bad quite effectively.

Went ahead and ordered Blue Arans whole 13pc stock of the aforementioned piezos. I'll try the testing process you explained here.

Also, (I know this has been mentioned roughly 500 times, but I couldn't find a concise answer after searching) how big should the series resistor be, and what effect will it have?

Boominator item list: "What to buy where" where and "How to build"

Hi all,

I've been reading off and on for like 4 days now in this thread and others.
Started out on how to connect a JVC boomblaster to a car battery ;-)
Also have an Klipsch iFi set that could be made mobile.
But I do like the Boominator and would like to build one,
although I have little to none experience with such a project.

I would like to know if there is a way to get an item list with an "where to buy" directory (I live in Holland).
Or do I really need to read 424 webpages to get an idea.
And has someone made a (detailed) "How to build".
An online guide or E-book would be much appreciated.
And I would be happy to pay for it ;-)

Cheers
