Our government has declared cannabis stores to be an essential service.
I can't think of any substance more suited to keep people quietly at home without going mad than enough cannabis so I do agree with your government.
@Bas the two best sources for info on this I have found happen to be YT channels: Those of Dr Seheult (medcram) and Dr John Campbell who warned that this will become the pandemic it is now way back in January.
Ok you two guys are a little more intelligent than I am!
I never thought of that, perhaps it should be mandatory!!!!!! 😉
Thanks 🙂

It should be in times like this! 😉
Governments should deliver a pound of weed to every address.
Lock downs would be a breeze...
But the homes a mess.... 😀Governments should deliver a pound of weed to every address.
Lock downs would be a breeze..
If the population is spaced out then they won't leave the house. Seems to make sense.
We are day one of full lockdown. Now the fun starts.
Welcome to the club!

Makes me think of Brave New World.
The Epsilons were given the recreational drug soma to keep them docile and contented with their lot in life.
Classic science fiction story....
They haven't called it a lockdown but it's essentially the same thing here. Good move but I have to admit I'm a little worried about how bad the economic consequences will turn out to be. How high the unemployment will be and how long the slump will last. Although I'm now unemployed because of the lockdown I'm lucky enough to have some money saved up and no debt. Many are not so fortunate. I wonder what will happen to them... 🙁

“This is a coronavirus test.
If you are in position to acknowledge a functional relationship between these two objects, then you belong to a high risk group.”

Oh-oh ...
Billshurv,
It's hardly a "full lock down". No curfew, and only the most vulnerable are contained. The blue collar worker carries on, just like the Key workers.
As far as the cassette goes..even I am found enough to understand that!

Alcohol is MUCH better for that purpose and already legal.

Based on the pictures of overcrowded tubes again this morning that may change tonight!.
In our third week of isolation...Some four-plus weeks ago, I bought a trio of face masks, now one can't find them for love or money...
So, just what is to be gained when this is all over, some six plus months from now, when the majority of us have zero jobs/occupations to go back to?
I believe most should have kept their businesses open, albeit with constraints.
In the old fifties nuclear war bomb-shelter scenarios....we had Mom & Dad & their four kids gleefully exiting their bomb-shelter.."Tomorrow is another day", all sunshine & roses....never mind looking fondly toward the horizon, not registering the shattered remains of civilization. Perhaps our civilization should have taken the bloody nose, better than no job, no prospects...and in due time, no food to eat...a seemingly self immolating, unwitting, unwinding of our civilization.
* This really is just getting started*

I went to a "snackbar" this weekend. A place where you buy french fries etc. People came in and said we're here to support you. His reply. I've never been busier. He basically can't keep up with the demand. Only difference. You can't sit down and eat. Take away or delivery.
I then went to a bicycle store. Since I had time to kill before my summer tires were fitted to my car. The owner of the bike store. It is very very busy.
My son works in a store where they sell consumer electronics. Business is brisk.
Supermarkets are selling more than during Chrismas.
In my own job. Nothing has changed except I don't go to the office.
Data centers in our town. Microsoft and Google....business as usual I guess.
Farming around us. Business as usual.
Building industry. Business as usual.
Some industries are doing very well. (Am I sounding like Trump now?)
Online stores: Can't keep up with the demand. Warnings on the site...we are very busy...so your package might be delayed.
Some industries that have been hit hard:
Hotels with or without restaurants near me. Deserted. So tourism and travel has been hit very hard.
My brothers air travel. Cancelled. My holiday in Mallorca...in May...down the drain.
Flower export=dead

Thousands if not millions of lives will have been saved. Some of them will be your loved ones.

In the bigger scheme of things, it just isn't all that lethal...EG, 2018, India 299,092 deaths by car accidents ALONE!
So yes, for now, worldwide, there are many other ways to up & die...many of them we just accept as part of our modern life.
It is estimated that 25000 people die of hunger each day. That is as many dead in 12 days from hunger as die from car accidents in India each year.
In the bigger scheme of things India's car deaths aren't all that lethal.
It's a red herring.

Perhaps you should just dare take the position that a possible 20 million deaths is worth the price of doing business as usual. I'm fine with such an argument.
Life is about taking tough decisions. In Italy they apparently don't treat people older than 60 anymore. At least not with respiratory machines.
