The Aleph-X

about the XA manual:
However, when I turn around and buy $300 worth of heatsinks she becomes confused, upset, and hurt. :bawling:

I could see how that would be a problem. 😀

Speaking of heatsinks, has anyone found a good place to buy heatsinks. mmmetals has some, but the good profiles are only available for large orders, since they just sell stock on hand for small orders.

It would be nice to organize a group buy of heatsinks, since the group buy for pcbs was soo big.

Any suggestions on where to obtain heatsinks?

Brian, the only heatsinks that IMO would be worth messing with are Peter's R-Theta, that is simply the best profile, it comes anodized and all finished up and ready to go. Unfortunately they cost $$$mucho dinero$$$. I wonder if a mass order would bring the price down some.

I also agree that those are the best heatsinks around. If you guys are interested, I can organize a group purchase, since I'm looking for heatsinks as well. Just let me know. A piece 11" x 11" anodized black was CAD100. For you, living in States it's peanuts. With a group purchse the price would drop down probably.

I'm definitely interested. My friend who wants to build the
2 ohm Aleph-X's will need serious heatsinks as well.

Which R-theta profile is it, BTW?

If a group purchase for these is organized, I would like to purchase 4, maybe more if the price drops. Can you see if you can get prices for a large group order?

It appears to be the same as this extension from Aavid:

For Europeans I recommend using the one that I used for my Zen R but in 100 mm length which is KS300.6 from Austerlitz which reaches 0.3 C/W already at 100 mm length and has slightly longer fins than the R-Theta. If you like 9" then KS216 from Austerlitz which is the same as SK 102 from Fischer is almost the same measures as the R-theta:
